Default Our (now lots of) mice! (Pic heavy)

Altogether there're the ones I've posted about before... And a lot of new mice you won't have seen before (unless you're on micearenice), so I'm giving everyones background and a pic per mouse rather than just giving a background for the new ones.
I'll explain how/why we got them all as I go, but feel free to ignore that and just see the pics if you want to

Monster and Spud were the first two we got, advertised as "free to a good home" when we were looking to get mice. I fell for them and didn't want them to end up as snake food.

Monster

Spud

Bark and Nugget were next, they needed rehoming after someone had rescued them from a bad situation (that we were never told about). Both started very skittish and Nugget later kindly gave us a crash course in why a single young mouse in a group can be a bad thing lol

Bark

Nugget

Then (the same day as Bark and Nugget) we also collected Trick and Treat, who were also advertised as needing a home.

Trick

Treat

After a period of quarantine we introduced the three pairs and they lived fairly happily together... Except for Nugget (the youngest) occasionally frustrating the others when she wanted to play and they didn't. In the end we decided that was our cue to find her some friends to play with, so we got Duskmouse, Poppyseed and Stitch from a local pet shop who we know breed their own animals (we even saw Mum while we were there).

Duskmouse

Poppyseed

Stitch

After another quarantine period we introduced the new three to the existing six and we had a big happy group of girls. Nugget had new younger friends to play with and the older mice could play when they wanted and not play when they didn't (without getting squeaked at for it).
The girls were all really happy together, but unfortunately in November we had subacute pneumonia go around the group. We don't know how it got in, but we lost Bark, then Spud with no symptoms shown at all so we thought it was natural causes (Bark had some older mouse traits and Spud was overweight). Then Poppyseed died unexpectedly a short while later and off we went to the vets. Nugget started showing signs of a resp problem the morning after we found Poppy - right in time for the vet visit. We got antibiotics, an autopsy and a diagnosis. Poppy's death allowed us to treat and save the remaining six. We took a lot of precautions with the mice for the next few months, we wouldn't let a new rodent into the flat until February and we're fairly sure everyone was completely healthy again by the end of December lol
Unfortunately we've also now lost Trick to suspected old age (she was being treated for suspected arthritus when she passed).

That left us on five girls and with suspicions that at least two (Monster and Treat) are relatively old now. Treat was miserable without her sister so we began to look for ways to distract her and decided it was time to consider more mice. And thats quite possibly where it all went er... different

We changed the girls cage around a bit and expanded it, which distracted Treat nicely and got her back to her usual self in the end. However... We also browsed gumtree and found someone with an unplanned litter living near my parents - who we were due to see soon...
So we arranged to get three girls. When we collected them we were not impressed with the standard of care - the cage stank, they had little to do, they had far too many mice in the cage, the males hadn't been separated... We left a bit stunned at how bad the care was. And then the new three wound up in the vets for eating so much they were scaring us (which wasn't helped when we realised we couldn't remember seeing any food in their cage when we got them).

We named the new three Floodmouse, Moxyfru (short for Paracetamoxyfrusebendroneomycin) and Dot (short for Princess Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana-Fanna Bo Besca the Third).

Floodmouse

Moxyfru

Dot

Their pregnancy watch ends Thursday and so far so good, so here's hoping they won't be giving us any surprises soon lol

Then life got fun
We got the opportunity to get the rest of their family and the cage. We spent a lot of time thinking about it, discussing it, and treble checking our decision to make sure we could definetly care for them. We arranged to get them, although the woman was really difficult to get answers out of so we didn't know how many, what sexes, or even if the time was definetly ok. We got ready but didn't get our hopes up we really could get them away from their current "care".
The collection date was Monday... We collected them (had the time confirmed when we were on the way lol), put them in a clean cage, then got home, sexed and separated them.

Meet "The Nuts!" (So called because we joked we must've been nuts to be getting them lol), first up the boys (all unneutered and living together for now, but we have spare cages and a vet who can neuter mice if needed).

Butternut

Wheelnut

Conker

Coconut

Filbert

Nutmeg

And the girls (who yes, might well be pregnant, we've planned for that too lol)

Wingnut

Brazilnut

Bopple

Hazelnut

Tigernut

Nuthatch

Peanut

And thats the end of our now rather large list of mice, good thing we keep spare cages handy really lol

Oh wow...I love them all! I've only ever owned one mouse...Stuart...(any guess of the reference?) but that was when I was 5/6 and he was unwanted by someone...seeing your mice brings back memories as Stuart was black and white

You have your hands full there, not only your adorable hammies...but all those lovely mice!

Adorable! Do mice have similar traits to rats? Like learning and affection?

Oh, oh, oh...Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!!! I love all the black and whites! I had been in love with Poppyseed mouse the second I laid eyes on her. All of your mousies are gorgeous, but I have a real thing about B/W coloring. The little babies at the end made me nearly melt into a puddle. This was a great save Krill. I love your whole narrative and "The Nuts"...EXCELLENT!! Really inventive. This story was wonderful to read about, and knowing that their lives have just done a 360, and they are going to have a great life, is just the best thing in the world. Hi little mousies. Good to meet you all.
