Exclamation Calling All Bird Owners!

I'm considering adopting a finch (or two), and I've never owned a bird before. I know they're relatively solitary and don't take well to handling (which I'm OK with). I also read that they need large cages.

Anything you guys can tell me from your own experiences? Pros and cons of bird ownership?

Default Re: Calling All Bird Owners!

I've never had a finch but I currently own two cockatiels, they are lovely to watch and love to sing! The only two problems i can think of is that they are noisy and they make a mess! But these problems can easily be solved. if they are too noisy when I'm watching something or they are just making an annoying sound (like a police siren ) I put a blanket or towel on top of there cage as they think it night so they go sleep I usually have to vacuum and brush around their cage twice a day but that isn't much of a problem.
They can take treats out of my hands but I can't stroke them as they are still a little scared of hands

Also you will want to get toys which they can shred (like paper) my cockatiels LOVE to destroy toys so i have to buy 1 for them every couple of weeks so they don't get bored, I don't mind though as long as there happy

Hope I helped
