Re: URGENT - I think my rat is dying
You think a fall could have started It ? Nothing looks broken but it could be a possibility .she is eating now but still gasping and grunting as she does so.

If she is eating, that's good. See if she'll drink some water. Hold her water bottle near her so she doesn't have to stretch.

Re: URGENT - I think my rat is dying
Max, there's really not a whole lot you can do for her. Actually, she might be able to rest more if she's left alone. You aren't going to be good for anything tomorrow if you don't sleep. You've done what you can. I've been in your position only a few months ago with 3 of my little guys. I know it's hard.

Re: URGENT - I think my rat is dying
Hello,
I've spoken quickly to one of my rat friends who bred my boys and she thinks she has pneumonia or...has fallen and punctured a lung.
Of course we can't say or certain but she looks like she is in pain and for a young animal to be like this isn't good.
Rats hide their pain very well so when they act like this and screech it is usually pretty bad.
P@H will treat her so really you need to try get your parents to get her to the vets or the shop.
The advice from my friend:
The rat needs to be put in a small wire cage and placed on the toilet seat in the bathroom. the shower needs to be run on COLD for 30 mins. This will bring the animals oxygen level up by 19%. This will help the rat breathe.
best meds is a dexameth steroid jab and baytril injected followed by oral baytril from day 2 xx

I do know what you mean. Do as Amythyst is saying. Do you have a small travel cage?
