I'll soon have 8 piggies in total (4 pairs of boars). I adore guinea pigs, they have the most wonderful of natures and are thoroughly enjoyable to live alongside.
As others have said they need companionship, sows can live in large groups but I wouldn't suggest you have more than two boars together. Their diets are 80% hay which should be UNLIMITED, 5% pellets (I feed a 1/4 cup a day in two servings) and 15% vegetables which should amount to around 1 cup per day. Green leafy veg is best along with peppers, fruit can be fed in moderation as treats. Here is a food list that piggies can eat

They are friendly, sociable animals who need out of cage time every day. They also need an indoor setup which should be at least 4x2ft although bigger is always better with piggies. My boys all have 6x2ft setups. Ferplast 120 or 140 cages are also a nice choice.
You'll love them, I can't imagine how anyone couldn't.
