My Handsome boys
I love them so much. Still not hand tame (as in holding but they do eat out of my hand) but they are no longer afraid. They come out and even if we may startle them - in seconds they turn back around to visit. They rarely run when they see our movement though. I open the lid when they are at the surface and they are very curious and social. In fact - I do believe this photo is proof that I received my very first Gerbil smile from Lennon!!

Re: My Handsome boys
Mercury was fat for awhile! He's much bigger than his brother Lennon even when not fat. Lennon is a little guy! But Mercury trimmed down after I put them in the 40 gallon tank. They are so active these days I think I might need to feed them more than the spoon per gerbil a day thing. I might stop scatter feeding. I am always paranoid I'm not feeding my critters enough!
Aww, I hope you don't have to rehome but if you do I'm sure you will find a very happy place for hiM!

Re: My Handsome boys
Awwww they're so cute! Before I got Cheeto, I had considered getting a couple gerbils. But then I saw Cheeto and, well, the rest is history! Such funny little creatures they are though.

Re: My Handsome boys
I scatter feed the gerbils but only because if i give them a bowl they just bury them so there is no point and i always worry they don't have enough food or they won't be able to find it in the deep layer of wood shavings and they get plenty of hay to

Re: My Handsome boys
Thank you so much gals! They are so different than hamsters. I cannot even think of how they similar except their diet pretty much. I cannot imagine not having them now. Having my hams and my gerbils makes it so complete!

Re: My Handsome boys
That's their super cool caverns and tunnels - though photos don't do justice because it's too dark inside their burrows for details to show up. I wish I could shrink myself so I could go wander about inside their labyrinth.

Re: My Handsome boys
They are inquisitive little chaps! I'd love to see inside tunnels too. Someone in needs to invent a non-chewable infra red camera!
