Charley - haha yeah bettas have such grumpy faces, I love them.
the front plants are little dwarf four leaf clovers, they've started running amok! when I first planted them, they were only in the right corner...
yes male bettas are best off alone, although there are some species that they can co-habit with - it generally depends on the specific betta! with things like otos and corys, since they're bottom-dwellers and aren't aggressive, the betta generally ignores them, although some can be awfully aggressive and chase them around, in which case you'd need to separate them. I also thought they were only okay if you added them to an existing community, but I looked into it and apparently it doesn't really matter who goes in first, they can get territorial anyway! so it's sort of just pot luck and see if they'd get on or, at the very least, ignore each other lol. but male bettas definitely can't be with other bettas, male or female!
Silver - thank you
my tank is an Arcadia Arc, which I got from Charterhouse Aquatics for £49.95 brand new, delivered! comes with a small internal filter and the Arc pod lamp, though I've since replaced the filter with a hang on back one (more space for lpanting heh) and I've switched over the lamp to an LED one (currently have the Arc pod lamp on as well as I'm going through some bizarre plant die off though).
