It`s probably for the best Charley given that female gerbils are that bit more anti-social towards newcomers. It`s such a shame because we as owners want them to have company, but the species doesn`t make that easy I`m afraid. I`m sure Maisie will adapt fine and enjoy all the playtimes and run arounds she gets. Gerbils love nothing more than making trouble running around the floor getting into mischief!

Anytime Charley, happy to help and chat. I kept gerbils for a long time and had four and then three and then two. I then done a male introduction when I went down to a single lad and little Grub was such a sweetheart, he fathered the yongster I brought in for him from an online friend who had taken the little gerbil in as a rehome and it was wonderful to watch. I could almost see the joy on his little face!

Grub wasn`t a dominant male though and he oozed character and friendliness. Two of the other males I had though were very different and much bolder and pushy, so I only attempted the introduction with Grub because I knew he was a softie. I always see gerbils as mini-meerkats! Such lovable charcaters but with the potential to be little terriers underneath.

I second them being little meerkats Luna and Lexie were both 'meerkat-ing' earlier and they kept turning their bodies, listening to different things, at the exactly same time. It was so funny to watch

They are funny little characters. I had a favourite in little Grub. He was a gorgeous little guy and was always the one to `look-out` and know what was going on. I really miss him and gerbils in general.
