Default Lump on my kittys neck :(

Got to take my cat to the vet's sometime this week (however both my parents are ill and I can't drive) as he's got this real big lump on his neck that just won't go away and lumps come with a list as long as your arm of causes!

Really worried about my Piddles! Such a vet bill too tough time of year to have to get another expense

He's only 9 months now so he's not even a big boy yet! Poor baba, this is a picture of him when we first got him, he's a bit bigger now I'll get another pic soon

(I figured it was right to post this in this section?)

One of my cats had a lump recently which didn't feel to begin with like an abcess but when I went over it very very carefully I did find a tiny scab. I checked on it and bathed it with salt water a couple of times a day and it started gradually going down so I didn't take him to the vet, but I think if he'd been little I would have done as babies tend to be less robust. Good luck at the vet - hopefully it'll be something like this and a shot of antibiotics and careful cleaning will sort it out.

Oh that doesn't sound too nice - but I'm glad it cleared up quickly for him!

We've had a bad run of luck over the last year or so with cats really, another one of our cat's has really bad breathing problems and generally just doesn't sound right but the vet we brought him to decided there was "nothing" wrong with him but yet he coughs all the time and always wheezes and has done for 2 years now! She didn't seem very interested in him though, most vets round here are specialised in large animals (like horses, cows etc) so I think we'll have to get him in again too soon as he's getting a bit too wheezy for our liking!

My Persian didn't cough and wheeze all the time, but he got the occasional cold. We found that letting him sit in the shower room with the shower on really hot creating lots of steam helped to clear his chest.

Ok, this might sound daft, but you see, this does happen.

How big is the lump? Is the cat microchipped? Could the lump be his microchip?

I really hope it is as lumps in any animal isn't nice.
