Default help posting pictures

Hello,

I have never managed to post decent pics on this forum. I've tried once but they asked for such small size that the pic ended up absolutely tiny.

Also, I created a photobucket account, thinking it would solve it, but they seem to suggest that free accounts do not provide working links for the pictures we upload on there.

Any tips? I am feeling ridiculously bad at IT with this... Thank you for your help!

Could you use ImgBB — Upload Image — Free Image Hosting You don't need an account, but I'm not sure if it works on HC.

The easiest way is to embed them using the forum options. They do need resizing but it’s how you resize them (the app and software) that affects how big they come out. I find the best way is to use paint on Windows 10. It’s quick and easy and you get a nice big photo on the forum page (but not so big it stretches the forum page).

So open your photo with paint. Select resize. Tick pixels (rather than percentages). Type 650 in the top box (the bottom box changes automatically). Your photo is resized. Select “save as” and choose jpeg. That saves the resized photo but leaves the original as it was.

Then on the forum - click on “Go advanced” at the bottom of the message box. Scroll down and click on “Manage Attachments”. A new window opens. Select browse. Select your resized photo on your pc. It will appear in the new window. Click “upload”. Just takes a few seconds. You can upload 5 at a time. When finished close the window. Go to the paperclip at the top of the message box and click - from the drop down menu select insert (or insert all). Before doing that maje sure your cursor is at the end of your typed post (or wherever you want the photos to appear). Some text will appear in the message box. Click on post reply or submit and the photos will appear when the message is posted.

For iPhone I also use an app called Image Size. But it’s not as easy to get photos to a good size and it’s a bit fiddly.

I use a website called Imgur: The magic of the Internet.
I made an account especially for hamsterthings to keep it tidy, but it allows pictures and video links to be uploaded without a fuss. The images do need to be properly sized beforehand though.

Thank you both! I don’t use windows unfortunately, but might try the iphone app... or imgur, we’ll see what works. Wish me luck!

The app works fine and is easy but the pictures come out smaller on the forum than when done with windows. There seem to be different ways of resizing.
