Talking Toilet question

So i got my Robo about 4 weeks ago. I got him everything he needs, multiple type of bedding, houses, sand bath etc. While at first he used the sand bath for bathing now he uses it for toilet purposes. Should i put another bowl of sand for toilet?

What do you guys recommend?

I would clean it every day for sure. You can test giving him a second one, but maybe he won’t use it at all.

I gave mine a sand bath as well and was hoping it would be his toilet, but he won’t potty in it. You can never win, lol !

I've been cleaning it every 2 days, i'll clean daily now. My method is: i remove the soiled sand and replace. I don't replace all sand at once. Should i do that?

LOL, we should exchange hamsters )))

PS-i wouldn't give up my lovely Robo, that was a joke.

Thank you for your reply.

I put sand in a corner toilet near their house (or in their house if it's a labyrinth house), then a bigger sand bath on the opposite side of the cage. They occasionally use the bigger one to pee in, but mostly use the little corner one. I think the locations helps to determine what they use it for (for some hamsters at least).

Stan, that is a good idea. Mine does has a labyrinth house and he never uses the "rooms" he just sleeps under the exit ramp. I could put sand in one of the "rooms" Thank you.

Robos should really have a third of their cage be sand as they’re desert animals. It’s normal for them to use sand as both a bath and toilet, just spot clean it once or twice a week.

Ha Ha ! No way, I love my little guy...

I would do as you do, just replace what is soiled and keep the rest.
