I will miss you Peggy..

Today is such a horrible day - the beautiful horse that I look after is due to be put to sleep later this afternoon..

She is the gentlest, kindest horse that you could ever know - never causes a fuss and just oozes sweetness. I am going to miss her greatly.

She is an older lady, 26 years, but still in such great condition and it seems so sad to see her go. Unfortunately she has a problem with her hock which cant be cured and she is in alot of pain, barely able to take a few steps in her stable.

I just wanted to write this down, I am finding it all too hard to take in...

I love you Peggy, Pegs, Pegster, Pegasus...and I will always remember the fun times we enjoyed together - the way you loved having your belly scratched, how your favourite treat was jam donuts...and those tender times too when you'd fall asleep while I was stroking your ear and telling you how beautiful you were.

Run free in the paddock in the sky...

i am so sorry for you. but it is the best if its not curable. she would be in pain all the time. she has reached an impressive age!!

Thanks Annie - it is just hard to see life without her, but it was also awful yesterday seeing her not be able to move, and not being able to go out in the fields with the other horses...so heartbreaking.

She has had a full and fun life (including being a mum) and I think her kind nature shows that she has had nothing but love from the people around her.

i am sure peggy enjoyed her life and i must be frustrating for her now that she cant keep up with the other horses anymore

Thank you all for your kind words.

She was not my own horse, but one I looked after and spent a good many years with. I know it is for the best and she'll be happily munching away up there now.
