Happy Mother's Day on the 13th of May
I realize that there are some countries that celebrate Mother's Day on another day, but here in the U.S., as well as a few other countries around the world, it falls on the second Sunday in May.
Although this is a bit early as it isn't the 13th yet, we are posting it here today since we may be very busy tomorrow, lol. Here is our Mother's Day card to wish all of those wonderful mothers of all species the happiest of days tomorrow. If you celebrate Mother's Day on another day of the year, we hope that you have a wonderful day, too. All mothers deserve that extra pampering and love no matter what day you celebrate it with your loved ones.

Re: Happy Mother's Day on the 13th of May
I didn't know that The Uk one is in March. Happy Mother's Day to all Mum's and Hamster Mum's in the US and elsewhere for 14th May! What is the tradition there? It always used to be daffodils here (with it being in March). Started out as a religious festival "Mothering Sunday" and all the ladies would be given a daffodil at church.
Here are some daffodils from me

Re: Happy Mother's Day on the 13th of May
Thank you, everyone! Serendipity, those daffodils are absolutely gorgeous; thank you! They are so vibrant and beautiful. They are also my birthday month flower, lol.
Serendipity - Carnations, especially white ones, were the traditional Mother’s Day bouquet in the U.S. Anna Jarvis, who’s generally noted as being the founder of the American holiday during the early 1900's, designated carnations, especially white ones, as the official Mother’s Day flower. Being her beloved, deceased mother’s favorite bloom and signifying strength, she stated “the carnation does not drop its petals, but hugs them to its head as it dies, and so, too, mothers hug their children to their hearts, their mother’s love never dying.”. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson officially established Mother’s Day to be celebrated on the second Sunday in May. Since then, red or pink carnations are given to mothers who are living, and white carnations are typically placed on the graves of those mothers who sadly have passed on. Roses and tulips are also flowers that are popular in many Mother’s Day bouquets. Besides flowers, the mothers in the U.S. typically receive cards (usually with handwritten, heartfelt poems inside) and other gifts showing gratitude and love. Often, they have the day void of typical daily duties and are pampered with breakfast in bed and extravagant dinners prepared by loved ones or treated to meals in restaurants.

That sounds lovely - carnations are pretty. When we were younger it was breakfast in bed - the kids and Dad would take it up on a tray. I assume it was cards as well but can't remember. Then it was just cards - now it's gifts, cards and meals

Re: Happy Mother's Day on the 13th of May
In the depth of my mind, I think I recall Mothering Sunday being the one day in the year when live in domestic staff were allowed the day off to return home and visit their mothers. People usually lived very locally anyway. But I could be wrong about that. I suppose I should google it!
But Serendipity is right about the daffodils in church even now.

Re: Happy Mother's Day on the 13th of May
Thank you everyone! SKB, Eros did spoil me with lots of whisker kisses and cuddles; she really knows how to pamper her mum, lol. Serendipity and Coco, I looked up the history of Britain's Mother's Day, and your memory of it is exactly what the internet states. I personally think it is so lovely that there are so many different traditions and historical beginnings for Mother's Day. Thanks for sharing the traditions and history of the UK one. It is lovely.
