Angry Help?!

Its 3:30 am at the moment and icant sleep. I heard my hamster simon chewing his bars earlier and i went to go and stop him and he dashed away like he was terrified of me. He often comes out around 12-3 in the morning so its normal yo hear him about and every now and again hell chew the bars but idk how to help him. I dont know what kind of toys hell like because all the toys i see are chews and tunnels and i worry that isnt enough and i think hes scared around me even though hes the sweetest thing when out of his cage and i cant really fit any more in his cage because its the alaska so its not too big and im worried i cany give him the care he needs and deserved because im 13 and i dont have the money to buy a new cage or toys, and i am going to try to build one for him but im new to woodwork and im pretty sure hell just chew right theough it and itll be awful anyway. Im breaking down here pla help.

The Alaska is quite a good size cage so you should be able to fit plenty of things in there to keep him busy.
Make sure he has plenty of substrate to dig & burrow in, if you haven't already completely fill the base with substrate.
Does he have a nice big house other than the little house on the shelf that comes with the cage? If not then you could make him one out of a cardboard box with no base laid on the substrate & a hole cut out for a door. Give him lots of shredded plain white toilet tissue so he can make a nice nest too.
You can make simple toys with just cardboard tubes or boxes, you can hide some of his food or a few treats in those & you can scatter feed rather than just using a bowl, foraging is fun for them & gives them lots to do.
If you can post a photo of your cage set up we might be able to offer some ideas to help.
Have you tried him with Whimzee dog chews? Most hams love to chew on those, the toothbrush one is the most popular.

Thanks so much. He does have most of those things and ill buy some dog chews. Im not sur how to send a pic so ill explain his cage layout. I always scatter his food and he has a big house on the bottom left corner, with an 11” wheel on the back of the cage. Theres a small bridge that gets moved around but is normally used as a way of access to the top of the house. Theres a good amount of shredded paper substrate for him to burrow in but he doesnt really do it much, and theres a small bendy tube in the middle that he loves chewing. He also chews his house alot, so much so he pretty much made another door on the back of it. I got rid of the old ladder because it wasnt working for him, and i have a long ladder on a gentler ascent going up to it. He never really uses the small house on the second floor which is understandable, and i often give him things like seed chews and peanuts to chew on because when i got him a dog chew he didnt show too much interest. I always provide him with a large sandbath under he hole the ladder used to be in but he mostly uses it for a toilet and to hide his food. I also give him another couple of tunnels here and there but they seem to small and the cardboard toy i gave him he showed no interest to. Maybe its just me? Sorry to be a bother.

Nothing to apologise for Sometimes it can be hard to get things just right as each ham is different & they don't all enjoy the same things, from what you say your cage set up sounds ok (if you want to try uploading a photo there's a thread here that shows you how.. How To Embed Photos).
If it wasn't the whimzee dog chews you tried before then I do think it would be worth giving them a go, it's surprising how much most hams love them!
A lot of tunnels sold for hams are too small for Syrians, you need to look at rat sized toys & tubes really, I can't remember which ones other people use as I don't keep Syrians, but maybe someone else will have more suggestions.
If he really likes chewing on wood some of the hazel or willow sticks you can buy in pet shops might work for him too.

Hello!

Sounds like he is a spoilt little hammy! Some hamsters will bar chew no matter what they have, it is natural for any caged animal to try break out anything keeping them captive. Cypher has given some good advice already.

I often find the best toys are the ones you don't buy...toilet tubes (you can cut the ends to fold in and make a treat package for them to chew open. Tissue boxes etc

You probably just startled him, again, perfectly natural prey response.

DOnt worry, everything sounds fine

(Careful when you post with your language no matter how upset you are ) x

I would definitely put more substrate in the base, even if you don't see him digging or burrowing he needs more than that, I think having a greater depth of substrate makes them feel safer as well as providing the opportunity to dig if they want to.
The house that comes with the cage is pretty useless really you could just ditch that & put something he might make better use of on the shelf, a cardboard box would be better than the plastic house or you could put the sand bath up there & with more substrate he might make more use of that space under the shelf.
The cage is quite .tall so if you can afford to buy any new things you could maybe get something like lava ledges or small wooden ledges to attach to the bars for him to safely climb on.
Hope that helps a bit.
