I appreciate the replies. I was feeling reallyvat a loss.
I'm just going to see how she does on pain relief and try to make her as comfortable as possible.
Hugs. I really feel for you. Didn’t see this thread before, but just wanted to say now that there is no wrong choice here. So long as whatever you do is motivated by love, that is what matters. Don’t be bullied into anything. Do what you feel is right. You are a kind and loving pet owner who has given your hamster a wonderful life, unlike so many other hamsters who are not appreciated properly. Remember this. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad.

It sounds as though your little girl still wants to live as she continues to eat and drink, so I think that I like you would give her more time. Nobody on here is as qualified to give you advic as your vet and if your vet thinks that she does not need to be pts right now, then I think you should listen to them. You will know when the time is right. Be strong xx

Thanks to everyone for your messages (sorry I don't know how to tag multiple people in) I really appreciate the support. Especially at a time like this where I'm constantly worrying that everything I do for her might be wrong. It's great to have people who understand.
She's hanging in there. She's a fighter. Switching to baby food has really helped whet her appetite. I've been giving her a little bit of her normal food too just in case she wants some, but at least she's taking the baby food.
She's taking less water now. I acutially didn't see her take any at all yesterday but she still had some baby food before going back to bed.
right now I'm just grateful for any time I get with my baby.

Thank you all for the support x

Glad she is hanging on. You are looking after her very well and I am sure she can feel this. You must have a very special relationship x

My baby has passed away.
I went to check on her this afternoon as I hadn't seen much of her yesterday and she'd passed away. I'm absolutely heartbroken. I knew this was coming but it still feels too soon. We never get enough time with them. She was just short of two years and one month old. I'm glad she was able to pass at home in her own nest. I'm honestly just heartbroken. She was such a kind and inquisitive little soul. I really am going to miss her. I love her so much.

Right now I'm cherishing my dwarf and dogs all the more. They really are all my world.

Thank you for all the support and kind words. It really made a difference to me in the last few weeks of her life.

I hope in the end she didn't suffer and that she enjoyed her life. I always tried to make sure she had the best life she could want.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this. You must be absolutely devastated. Just know that you were a wonderful owner who took amazing care of her. She couldn’t have asked for a better life than the one you gave her.

I know it is painful right now, but try to remember the good times. As you say, spend time with your other pets and let them comfort you.

It might be a nice idea to plant a flowering shrub over her grave or put a memorial of some sort there. Or, maybe create a photo album of her life.

Everyone is here for you xx

I'm so sorry SabreRose, it's always so hard when they go & we can never really be prepared but you gave her a great life & did your very best for her, take comfort knowing that she went quietly at home & she is at peace now.

I'm glad your other pets are there to help you. Reading your thread made me a bit teary, but it showed how to care for my ham when her time comes.
