Default Hope this little one made it home to momma

So today at work, my colleague spotted something moving across the car park and it stopped against the tyre of his car in the shade. When we approached it slowly, we realised it was a really really tiny of some sort, not sure if it was a baby rat or a mouse. It was that tiny its eyes werent open. He scooped it up to carry into the bushes in the shade and away from the road but he dropped it by accident. It seemed ok and it wondered off into the grass. I went inside to fill a bottle cap with water and left it just under the hedge when we left it. It didnt look very good, but I wonder if it was just hot from being in the sun ot the fact it was extremely young, too young to be away from mum. Now I worry if by getting human scent on it if mum (if she found it) would have taken it back. Cant stop thinking about the poor little thing. I hope its ok x

Looks more like a rat to me (blunter nose than a mouse) and probably between one & two weeks old.
Glad you put it out of the sun, and let's hope mum found it.

I'd agree it likely isn't a mouse. Besides its muzzle being so round, it also is quite large for a mouse- especially a baby! I find that the whole mothers not coming back to their young not to be the case 90% of the time. Hope he/she found their way home

I truly hope that the little one finds its way back to its mum and a lot of TLC. I'm so glad that you found it and was able to leave it some water in the shade. I will definitely be hoping that the cutie is safe and doing well.
