Default Unique Litter Pans/Areas

Have any of your hamsters chosen a unique area/item as their litter pan? Zoey showed no interest in litter training and did her business everywhere. Then I bought her a beautiful wooden house and she chose the ROOF as her litter pan. I washed it well and put food on the roof, hoping to discourage her from using it as a litter pan, but she refused to eat the food. Finally, I said, "Ok, sweetie, the roof it is!"

She's Zoey, the 'potty' trained hamster, poopin' on a roof.

Lol hamsters really are interesting little critters at times!

For a long time, I couldn't find where it was Duncan was peeing which concerned me due to spot cleaning purposes. However, I soon found out that he had chosen to go inside of his box maze! Got the lovely surprise of a handful of soggy cardboard

I wonder what other interesting places hamsters have managed to go

I've had Syrian girls who didn't like to pee in their cages. They'd lift their rears up in a corner and pee outside of their cage. It's easier now I have laminate floors, but not so much fun with carpet!

That's funny, Drago and Vectis! (Messy, but funny.)

Angel once did that! I just recently have started to potty train Angel, as she used to use the top of her wooden house as a bathroom too! I'm probably going to toss out her house as it is pretty much soiled. Lol!

I just found out my Mogget likes to pee inside a ceramic bowl. (The big kind that are for bird food. I put it in the tank on it's side for a little hide place, and lo and behold.) lol I actually caught her in the act. Cute, but I have to wash the bowl often. Makes spot cleaning easier, I guess.

Ah yes, @Vectis, Inky has had a few little "indiscretions" involving our bed. Including the time when she did it twice in one evening, after I'd changed the bed.

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Her main toileting place is her digging tower. Where she also sleeps. And hoards. Unfortunately this means that any 'spot' cleaning inevitably involves removing her nest and hoard, as otherwise it starts to smell. Le sigh.
