Check out that rescue nearer the time maybe They have hamsters of all ages and species. But getting one from a breeder sounds good too.

As for where you get a pet,to me it matters most whether or not they're given appropriate care and are loved. While some sources are better in some ways, you don't need to feel bad if you do get attached to a hamster from a pet shop for example rather than buying one from a breeder or adopting! The whole adopt don't shop thing is heavily pushed, but there is never going to be one perfect source for every single person.
So true!
I've been getting my hams from the same pet shop for 16+ years now and know the couple well. I just wish they'd update their information when it comes to what's best for the hammy.
There's certain places I wouldn't go for a hamster. Adopting us something that I'll look into when I get my next hammy.

Wow, Serendipity, that rescue! I want Nugget and Fleur and Cecile and...

I'm too far away.

What type of rat is that at the bottom? I've never seen anything like it. I think it's name was Moomin.

MeganAndMisty, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Misty and the illness of Pebbles. However, I am so pleased to hear that Pebbles is now doing fine.

I wish you the very best on getting a new little sweetheart around your June birthday. No matter what route you decide to go with, follow your heart and let the animal help you make the perfect choice.

Take care! Please post some pics and let us know how things are going after your new sweetheart is settled into your loving home.
