Default Hamsters and Cookies

Yesterday, some of my friends came over to my house to bake cookies. I instructed them to stay well away from Titania, telling them how hamsters are nocturnal, that she's settling in, no, she's not dead, no, you can't force her to run on the wheel, no, I'm not going to plop her into the sand bath, etc., etc.
I'm paranoid.
My friends thought it would be funny if they pretended to feed her a little bit of the cookie batter to her while I was going to the bathroom. Needless to say, I totally, utterly, and completely freaked . After hyperventilating and going on a complete rage explaining how they didn't understand how fast she could move, how she could have eaten the cookie batter (with RAW egg), how even if they tried to stop her they could've gotten bitten, I finally calmed down and locked her cage in the bathroom.
It think it's pretty self-explanatory to say that the rest of the morning was pretty awkward.

She should be fine Raw egg shouldn't pose any issues, especially if it was only a small amount.I'd be far more worried about things like chocolate, which are toxic, rather than something which if handled poorly(raw egg,raw meat, etc)can contain bacteria.

Raw egg and raw meat would be more natural than the cooked variations actually, and as long as they're properly handled should pose no issues.Freeze dried chicken for example is raw and completely harmless, yet for whatever reason more people jump to assume that raw meat is harmful. While it isn't for everyone, feeding raw meat or eggs that have proper handling procedures isn't necessarily a terrible thing as one may assume based on what humans eat!

As for salmonella in general,it's more of a concern to those with compromised immune systems(including pets)but healthy animals are rarely if ever affected by raw meat/raw egg as long as it has been handled properly.Of course, that is only for the animals designed to eat meat and egg.

I would've hit the roof, and I'm not surprised you freaked out, your friends should've respected your wishes on leaving Titania alone. Good on you speaking your mind and putting Titania first.

XD If that happened to me, I'd FREAK and sweep them out of my house while screaming for my parents. Ok, more realistically, I'd only sweep them outta my house then tell my parents then frantically try to find a hamster vet. (I already found one but they haven't responded to our asking for a claw trim for Spunky)

Wow what a terrible situation! I know how you feel, my neighbor's young ones often come over and are absolutely fascinated with my little Duncan and Chance! Of course they want to see them do tricks, and they get scared when they lick their fingers. Like others have said, good on you for standing up to them!
