Re: Titania!!!!
I got the one in the white Quikrete bag. Further sifted through the sand, would this be ok?
(Or maybe somehow the rocks got into the bag? It was left out for several months under the trampoline till I decided to use it.)

Re: Titania!!!!
It does still look too rocky for hamster use
Leaving sand outside is a very bad idea, and makes the sand not safe to use.You take a chance exposing the sand to all sorts of chemicals and diseases and parasites, some of which won't be removed simply through baking.Get a new bag of sand as soon as possible and just use this bag outside somehow if you must use it,but don't use this bag for your hamster

Re: Titania!!!!
(sigh) Oh, well.
But on the upper note, my dad was cleaning the basement and found an identical bag of sand stuck underneath a Christmas tree, Christmas ornaments, and 2 bins jammed full of Christmas wrapping paper! I still have the problem though of finding a sifter that my mother will let me use for sand. The one I used in the pic was a ladle that had mesh on the bottom, but since it's only intended for separating solids from liquids it didn't seem to work well .

Re: Titania!!!!
This does still look more like coarse grit than sand to me.
They don't get through an awful lot of sand, you can sift out any lumps in the litter tray & the sand bath doesn't need to be changed often & again you can just remove any bits of food or anything left in there so I really think for Titanias benefit it would be worth investing in some good quality proper play sand or chinchilla sand.

Re: Titania!!!!
Congrats on "accidentally" bringing Titania home. I definitely don't blame you; I would have done the exact same thing. In fact, I have done the exact same thing multiple times in my life and couldn't be any happier about my decision to do so. It just was fated that the two of you needed to be together. I am thrilled that she will be loved and cared for by you. I think that the two of you are blessed to be in each other's life!
She is such a beauty, and I can't wait to see more pics as soon as she is settled. I also would love to read more about your journey with her. She sounds like a total cutey and such a fun, little girl.
Congrats again on the newest member of your family! What amazing news to share!

Forgot I had this thread till today!
Dear all,
Today I tasted something too heavenly to be true. My pet human said it was "puft wice," it was very strange. I have heard of "wice" before at my 6 month long stay at the pet shop, usually accompanied by something like "going to Kinese tae-out." But never "puft rice"! It tastes crunchy and has the same flavor of that box thingy my owner put in my cage. Too delicious!
She also switched out a lot of my toys, and now it looks like a princess castle! Doesn't she know I'm a tomboy?
LOL!!! Just realized my sock was in the background of the pic of Titania...ignore that please.
