Re: Titania!!!!
Aww she's lovely
Many of us can't get breeder hams & hybrids still make adorable pets, good that you know what she is though so you can give her an appropriate diet & be aware of the right care.

Re: Titania!!!!
She's so cute digging away
Does she use this as her potty cause the sides are high she might now use it for that reason. Do you have another sand bath in her cage. My WW looks like yours and she was potty trained immediately with Chinchilla sand in a Kaytee critter bath. Or you can also use a bowl.
Maybe the camera view makes the sides look higher than they are too?

Re: Titania!!!!
I don't know if that sand is from her cage or just to get a photo? But it doesn't look suitable for a sand bath & it could have sharper bits in it, I would invest in some good chinchilla sand if you can.

Re: Titania!!!!
It does look extremely rough and rocky, like gravel Properly sifted and sterilized children's play sand does not look anything like that, and a high quality chinchilla sand wouldn't either(but is much more expensive especially considering you get a tiny amount for a lot of money compared to a massive amount for a minimal amount of money with a little prep work).

Re: Titania!!!!
I was using this batch of sand just to hold her for a bit, the other (sort-of sifted) was still baking in the toaster oven .
Yes, I have multiple sand baths. The one you saw was for a toilet. I have another one in one of those terra-cotta water-holder
Thanks!
(Included is a pic of what the sand looks like now, is it alright?)

Re: Titania!!!!
It still looks rather like fine gravel rather than sand tbh, it may not be very absorbent which would make it unsuitable for both toilet & grooming & it could still be a bit sharp & rough for her.

Re: Titania!!!!
That does not look right at all Good and safe sand(sterilized play sand)will look sugar-like,as a good example. It should be very fine, not coarse as is shown in both pictures(to varying degrees, but still concerning enough with the second to make it clear that something is just not right with whatever sand you're using).
In the US we have an all natural play sand from Home Depot(around 4 dollars)that would be fine. Not sure where you found that sand though,it looks very different to the suitable types!

Re: Titania!!!!
Huh, that's weird. I'm also using the Quikrete sand from Home Depot. It was almost 20% rocks when I got it. http://photos-us.bazaarvoice.com/pho...a-6742293a35fb was the amount of stones I took from the amount of sand you see in the last pic.

Re: Titania!!!!
Must have been a bad batch! In my experience the one in the clear bag is very smooth, which would indicate a bad batch as mentioned or potentially just a huge quality gap between the regular and that type(if you got the one that isn't in the clear bag).
