Default Hamster bathing

Hi guys.

My mini monster seems to love kicking her sand EVERYWHERE - inside and outside of the cage. I originally had a small corner bath you can buy but only the back was high so the sand went eveywhere. Ive since changed it to an old plastic takeaway tub, dug it down a bit in the substrate but it still goes everywhete.

Do you think a chinchilla bath would be ok? Like a house she can climb into

Some hamsters just love to make a mess and girls seem to be worse for this than boys.

There was a bird bath that was recommended to me for my little Chinesey which is more enclosed: Bird Bath Hagen Vision - Great deals at zooplus

I'm not sure how big it is as I'm waiting for mine to arrive so I can't say how suitable it would be for Syrians but it should at least give you an idea on what you could use.

A chinchilla bath would work fine, but something easier could be an old cleaned out pickle jar! This is free and hamsters tend to love going in and rolling about in it. Fluffagrams gave an excellent suggestion as well although, if the picture isn't photoshopped, it's likely a bit small for Syrians but only time will tell! Hope little khaleesi enjoys wherever you put her new sandbath

Fluffagrams could you let me know what its like when it turns up please?

Drago, this hammy of mine is very spoilt, living up to the name haha. I took the sandbarh out last week as i thought she was itching, but she seems fine now and just lets off steam having a good old dig in there

I have the sand bath Fluffagrams linked for my dwarf Larry-Jasper. I would agree that it is very small for a Syrian, but would work perfectly for a dwarf. The sand mainly stays in, but it depends how deep you fill it. I filled it quite high this time, so I'm stil, having Larry-Jasper kick out a bit of sand, but not as much. I attach the bath to the cage bars so Larry-Jasper can dig below it. It can be ordered off Amazon as well and is very good quality.

If you follow the link then look at the customer photos (scroll down a bit) you can see a syrian ham in one, I've used them for Russian & Chinese & think it could be a bit small depending on how big your syrian is.
You can get a large glass jar that sits on it's side from Tesco, they're really cheap & should be plenty big enough for a syrian, I'm sure other shops do similar things too.
I can't find a link to one but if my tiny Tesco sells them I guess they all do!
