Re: Lost hammie, please help!
I'm not really sure where she could have gone. It's 7am so I guess she's asleep by now, but I'm really starting to get upset. I won't lose hope though

Re: Lost hammie, please help!
Sometimes using a long tunnel/tube leading from the hole that then leads into a shoe box for example ( make a hole in the shoe box for the tube to fit into)may be enough to allow her to walk into the tunnel and into the dark shoe box, which should have her own bedding inside from her cage and a few seeds etc...
Hamsters like their own scent, so she may come out into the tunnel and into the box and if you see or hear her, stay absolutely still until she`s inside the shoe box and then detach the tunnel from the wall to prevent her running at speed back into it.
If she`s taking the food you are leaving that`s good. Means she`s eating and still in the area. She may be thirsty, so place a piece of apple at the opposite end of the tunnel as this will tempt her out. x

I like the shoebox/bedding idea! Great. Also - have you checked in her cage? There have been cases where people have found the hammy back inside the cage. If not, leave the cage nearby and open.

Re: Lost hammie, please help!
We've had the cages close to the hole since we fist heard her and we've been checking them regularly. Thank you for the shoebox idea. I hope she's okay

Re: Lost hammie, please help!
She probably won't wake up until early evening as she's likely to still be in normal hamster sleep pattern

Re: Lost hammie, please help!
We're starting to lose hope. We haven't heard her in a day now. We made chicken and put it out, so this is our last hope. Thank you guys for being there to help. I'm so emotional about the whole thing, but your advice helped me stay calm in this situation.

Re: Lost hammie, please help!
Hamsters can go missing for a long time and then come back. Do you know anyone who has a hamster of the opposite sex to yours? The other hamster's smell may attract your hamster to come out. You could use some of the other hamster's bedding from the nest or pee soaked substrate. Or even the hamster in a cage.

Re: Lost hammie, please help!
I'm not sure if I know anyone with one. We're thinking about adopting another hamster to lure her out. Would that be a bad idea? We have access to a better cage for 2 of them

Re: Lost hammie, please help!
I think that it would certainly be fine if that's not the ONLY reason you're adopting them. Having a second hamster means two times the responsibility, two times the mess, and two times the money. If you're willing to accept this responsibility, then you can go ahead, as long as you're prepared and have all the savings and supplies. It's probably worth a shot at this point considering how long your little one has been gone.

Re: Lost hammie, please help!
We were talking about getting another hamster, even if we didn't find the missing one. We would have waited to see if the missing one came out, but maybe now we should get one
