Fluffy nesting material is fluffy nesting material, no matter what form it comes in. There are many dangers of it (as AmityVilleHams said above) and honestly it's just not worth the risk.

The best and cheapest nesting material is simply uncoloured, U scented toilet paper, as this is a very safe option and everybody has it

What wrong info did you give them? The info you gave them is right if you followed the advice on the forum. If it goes against their beliefs no need to apologize.

I still think it's dangerous, but I don't want the few breeders in my country think bad about me and then refuse to sell me a hamster in the future. That way I'd be limited to supporting petstores which I would rather avoid.

Oh I see, that's too bad they don't realize it's harmful.

Times like this, I wish I had gotten pictures of what happened to one of my old roborovskis.
A long time ago, I used fluffy bedding. It was 'safe and natural, made from plant fibres'.
At one point, when I had the little guy out for a cuddle, I noticed he had some 'poo' sticking out of him that wasn't just falling out. He also wasn't really protesting to the handling as he usually did.
So, I grabbed some tweezers, got the end of the 'poo' and gently started pulling it out...and got a lump of 'safe' nesting material and faeces that was almost half the size of his body.
He survived, thankfully, and I stopped using the fluffy stuff shortly after (no ill effects to my Syrian at the time, nor any previous Syrians, so I thought it was just because of his smaller size. Also, as this was over 10 years ago, I didn't really have the knowledge I do now). Now I only use tissue, and it upsets me whenever I do see unsafe products like that, and ignorant people spouting about how 'safe' it is.

Oh jeir I'm so sorry to hear that. Stories like this scare me so badly. Luckily you watched him closely and found out before it went completely wrong.

This whole fluffy bedding thing really bothers me to no end. Had hamsters been dogs it would have been banned long time ago, as there's a bigger awareness on dog health

If that were true then so many big brands of dog food would be banned as well,or at least forced to use better ingredients!Dogs can have it just as bad as small pets
