Higgins Vita Garden itself does not have molasses in the ingredients.However,Mazuri does.Since Mazuri is what really boosts the protein and makes it even more suitable,Burgess would be the much easier option in this case and also the most suitable solution.

There is no added sugar in this food,but there will always be natural sugar in every single food out there due to photosynthesis.It is absolutely impossible to entirely remove sugar from diets,however I do personally prefer avoiding artificial sweeteners and artificial ingredients in general.

I wouldn't say VitaNature is necessarily diabetes approved,as it contains fruit which if given every single day could produce too much sugar.It also doesn't have enough protein to be suitable on its own,which makes it inferior to Burgess.

Burgess would be the easiest option of all,since you only need Burgess and no extra foods for protein.You can definitely add more foods as treats for extra variety though!

I would supplement Vita Garden or Vita Nature with Mazuri lab blocks. That must have been alot of work typing all those ingredients So Burgess doesn't have any added sugars? I'm guessing not?

Just talked to exotic vet but we're more concerned about the mites & cost for diabetes test that I forgot to ask about sunflower seeds

But she is calling back with more info on money, so I'll ask her about seeds then.

Burgess has no added sugars,which is very good for any hamster even those without diabetes!I didn't type the ingredients since I only had to copy and paste,but anyone who does have to type ingredients for food would definitely have a ton of patience to do all the work involved

Burgess is sugar free As in no added sugar or sugary ingredients. So is Hazel Hamster actually but the Burgess is specifically for dwarf hamsters and pieces a better size I think. It might be easier to manage sugar levels going that route, and supplementing with the other seeds mentioned maybe. It's a tough one the diabetes.

I just talked to this specialist vet 2x's & I forgot to ask about seeds both calls. Oh well I give up, guess seeds in moderation is the answer?

That would be the best solution As long as you're not feeding tons and tons of the seeds which are higher in fat,it will be perfectly fine,and these are definitely healthier treats than just about all storebought treats!

If you do go with Burgess in the end you could still use some of the things in Higgins as treats to add variety,plus that way you wouldn't really be wasting the food you do have already.
