Re: Lumbar back surgery
It sounds good to maybe have more time to think about - maybe don't dismiss it as not ever just yet! New things come along all the time. Most surgery has limitations like that afterwards as well. But if they can find a way of managing it without surgery, that would be good, and keep it as a possible option if all else fails xxx

Re: Lumbar back surgery
I hope the nurse has some good options or you get a good referral for conservative treatment. It must be horrible.

Re: Lumbar back surgery
Yea, a pain mngt place just called me back today. On a Sunday is a little odd? But they said that they only do steroid injections. I hear you can get those 3 times per year. Should be 4 times per year if the injection wears off after 3 mo? Will see?
I haven't told them yet that I'm not having the surgery. Plan on doing that tomorrow. You have to be in different circumstances that I'm in to recover from a surgery like that.
I don't know how much of my pain is bring masked by this injection, which is a little scary.
But surgery would be scarier I would imagine? I'm going to talk to someone who had 3 back surgeries Tues morning. Maybe he can help? Won't cancel till Tues instead. I'm conflicted still...
I have to be able to lift Carefresh to clean hamster cages. I know that's a priority, kidding.

Re: Lumbar back surgery
I let the nurse know that I decided not to have surgery this morning. The opinion of one person tomorrow isn't going to shed any light when I know it has to be done maybe some other time.

Re: Lumbar back surgery
That gives some breathing space at least And time to look into things. I hope the pain clinic options are good. It isn't just medication and physio.

Re: Lumbar back surgery
I can get injections (steroid) 3 x's a year. Plus Meloxicam works. I'm so relieved that a decision has been made, a good one!
