Default Is my SD card broken?

My SD card is slightly chipped on the plastic at both sides near the chip end. My chromebook doesn't recognise that it's in the slot, but it recognises another SD card I have. The strange thing is, is that it worked in the camera? It has also worked before in this laptop when in the same condition.

I've been trying to put it in and out of the slot for three hours now, It's got some really nice pictures of my hamsters on it and I really don't want to lose them Is there any way I can mend it? Or retrieve my pictures from it? I'm so annoyed!

If it works from your camera can you not load from the camera with the card in that?

Do you get a message come up when you put the sd card in - like the card is write protected or locked? Sometimes the little yellow slider thing on the side of the sd card gets pushed the opposite way (write protected so it can't be viewed) when you take an sd card in and out of different machines). If you do get that message, then take the card out, slide the yellow thing the opposite way and put it back in again.

But if it's chipped maybe it doesn't fit properly in your computer now. I'd suggest getting a new sd card and a usb cable for the camera (if you can't wifi or bluetooth the pictures across to the computer).

Or - get a new sd card and try the old chipped one in someone else's laptop or computer - it might work in a different computer - put both sd cards in the other computer and cut and paste everything across from the old one to the new one.

Surely if it works in the camera it would work in the computer? It's my brothers camera so I'll have to ask... He might have one, I don't know. I'll have to do it on Friday now, I won't be home until then. I'm so annoyed about this, it worked before when the plastic had broke away.

There isn't a message, I've tried 3 different computers, and two different smaller digital cameras and it only works on the DSLR. Very strange.

There's a really good picture of Winston on it and I really don't want to loose the pictures.

It does sound strange - have you got a card reader? That might work. It looks like a usb stick but has a hole in the side where you put the sd card in and the computer reads from it that way. It's intended for computers that don't have an sd card slot but would work anyway. At least that way you could cut and paste all the photos off the card onto the laptop and then put them back on a new sd card later.

This one is a good make and not too expensive

I have asked my brother if he has a cable and he does, but doesn't know where it is! So I will have to go searching for it when I can. He works with computers and is a graphic designer, he has so many wires in boxes, this will be fun! haha

It will be worth it though, I have a picture of Myrcella and Winston that are great!
