Pet shop thumbs up moment
Earlier today, I was in p@h to have a quick look at the furries as I had just been to the store next door and I couldn't go home without first popping in. I was really pleased to see that they weren't selling or adopting out any rabbits over the bank holiday weekend as their "Easter bunnies are resting". I know a lot of small indie pet shops round here didn't use to sell rabbits at Easter but I was pleased to see the big green shop being proactive too.

That is awesome, I hope that is a business wise thing. I know many rescues don't adopt out rabbits this time of year also. It is about time P@H started to do some positive things about the number of their animals that end up without homes.

Re: Pet shop thumbs up moment
There was a thing on the news not to buy kids rabbits for easter as they were neglected or given away.
Rabbit rescues struggle at this time of the year due to stupid people buying rabbits for kids who then get bored.

It had been said that P@H were doing this, I'm glad.

Popped into my local p@h yesterday and it was the same policy there. Good to see.

Re: Pet shop thumbs up moment
My two Local Chain stores here in the U.S.A. quit selling rabbits any time, but we have a grain and feed store with initials of TSC that year after year sell hundreds of baby bunnies a whole 2 weeks before Easter and also sell Chicks and Ducklings too. They put buying stipulations on the poultry babies but not one thing on the Baby bunnies who are always kept in a wide open metal horse trough with a infra red light on and allowing any and every customer to pick them up and bother them the whole time the store is open. The poor babies get no rest and most don't sell until right before Easter Sunday.

Re: Pet shop thumbs up moment
I think this is a really good step for p@h they are starting to do some positive things, also this help reduce the number of abandoned rabbits at Easter (hopefully they may not sell pets at Christmas also as that's another time in which abandoned pets increases). But it's is nice to see p@h are trying to help reduce the number of abandoned rabbits/pets.

Re: Pet shop thumbs up moment
I went into one yesterday with my brother, his partner and their little 3 year old. I needed to get hammy food and my neice wanted to see "the manamels" (animals)! There was a big sign that said "Our Easter Bunnies are on holiday right now", but my neice was so happy cos she was allowed to stroke them! She then looked at the hamsters and burst into tears because she wasn't allowed to hold one!
That shop also had a vets part, so we saw lots of dogs and cats arriving there. So of course my neice wanted to pet them all too! Some people let her which was nice of them. Then she told my brother that she "really really really" wants a "bider" (spider) and we left before my brother got her one LOL
