Re: Possibly moving... with 16 animals...
Just point him towards some shelving units in the shops that are big enough for Alaskas Off the top of my head I know the largest sized Ivar from Ikea will fit an 80x50cm cage, don't have one any more so I can't tell you if it is quite big enough for the Alaska's 84cm, and this is the shelving unit I have in my room, which I've just measured and has 84.5cm space between the poles. Buying a shelving unit will totally save him time and money, after all Plus they have adjustable shelves, so if you need to use them for other things in the future you can easily move the shelves around!

Ooohhhhh thankyou so much!
Does anyone know any other shelving units that will fit two alaskas on? Possibly two small cages on too? (I don't know if we are having all the hamsters on one unit)

Re: Possibly moving... with 16 animals...
When I was a child I shared a room with my brother. We had a chest of draws each with a large gap between them and a matching piece of wood on top. Can't remember haw long it was but you may be able to do something similar depending on space available.

Re: Possibly moving... with 16 animals...
Apparently the summer house is the same size as my room now, but with upright walls instead of sloped ones, so techniquely its bigger... So I could get a taller shelving unit and put cages on there... Just have to find one with big enough gaps between each shelf!

I think the room is going to be black and white, so it would go with the room which is hopefully going to help me get my way in this situation!

Re: Possibly moving... with 16 animals...
That last link - if you had the four tier chrome one for £65 you could fit two Alaska cages and have one shelf and the top still free.
You could just say you have found some great shelving and it's the right size to fit cages on as well and you'd like to go ahead and get it. Show it to him first maybe. I don't see what objection he should have to shelves that will fit Alaska cages unless he is just being difficult!
