Default Anyone ever had problems with Zooplus??

I usually LOVE Zooplus! For most things they are quite reasonably priced - though not always! The thing I don't like is their delivery is 3-4 WORKING days, so if you order on a Thursday or Friday, it doesn't arrive until the following Wednesday or Thursday.
For my last order I ordered everything, and for some reason only half of it arrived the other day (though the stuff that arrived was enough to set up the hamster cage). I spoke to them and they had said the rest would be delivered yesterday, so of course I stayed in pretty much all day to wait. It didn't turn up. So, again I rang them, but by that time they were closed so I emailed them. I got an email back this morning saying the parcel had "been damaged in transit" and so Yodel had sent it back. They asked me when I wanted a replacement order or refund, so I rang them back as it is quicker than email, and they said they can send me another parcel, BUT it won't be here until WEDNESDAY next week!
I just wondered if anyone else has had this issue with them? When I had the Alexander cage, the box on that was damaged when it arrived - which wasn't too much of a surprize considering it was so big! But it was still delivered. According to tracking system, it left the depot yesterday morning, and should have been here by the end of the day but it just didn't come. Which means if it left the depot, it must have got damaged in the van. What I don't get, though, is why it still couldn't have been delivered?? I don't care if the box is damaged! There was nothing in there that could have been broken easily, and so really there is no reason it couldn't have been delivered. When I said this to the lady on the phone, she said "well I don't know how it got damaged. It just did" and then failed to explain why the Yodel guy couldn't have just delivered it anyway! If anything inside had been broken, I'd have just sent it back, but there wasn't anything in there that could get broken anyway ... So now I don't know what to do. And it has also got me so mad that I am too scared to order from them again!
They asked when I'd like the replacement package. I asked if could possibly come tomorrow, as I am out most of next week anyway, and got told, "No, we don't do next day deliveries" ... But surely they should for this??

Sorry for ranting, I'm a little worked up right now! What should I do? Should I just ask for a refund instead and then order those items from somewhere else? Or should I wait for it to come next week, and re-arrange my agenda to wait for it or hope a neighbor is in??

I'm forever ordering from zoo plus and if there is a problem they aren't very good at solving it.. Also out of the couriers I would always choose DPD as yodel damage parcels and tend to leave parcels outside doors (from what I've heard). With DPD you get an email to say when it will be delivered and you can track your parcel easily

Oh I didn't know you got a choice?! They sent me an email as I was on the phone saying they were sending me a replacement package, and that it would be Yodel delivering it ... They've already sent it out to Yodel now so can't ask for DPD! I ended up re-ordering everything again, this time from Pets at Home. It's a lot more expensive but you get about 4 or 5 choices for delivery so asked for it to come before 12 tomorrow as I'm out all afternoon! The Zooplus stuff will just have to be a spare now ... Also got some Amazon things coming tomorrow too Gonna be another parcel opening day!

Haha, just seen my emails, and it mentions on the one from Zooplus that after 2-3 working days you can track the parcel with Yodel, even though it's supposed to come in the 2-3 days!
I do think they should at least offer next day delivery!

I think it might depend how much you order? But in future DPD all the way! Haha yeah PAH is dearer.. I work there so I'm able to get colleague discount :P I end up poor because of these hamsters lol.
I do like the choices you get with zoo plus, I pretty much order from there monthly.. Already planning on what I'm ordering next pay day!

Ha ha! I always end up spending over the minimum for free delivery! But I think if they offer free delivery after spending a certain amount then they should at least offer next day delivery, even if you did have to pay for it!

Yeah you'd think so! Did you find zoo plus helpful?
When my parcel went missing they seemed to be foreign and couldn't understand a word! Thank god since then I haven't had a problem that I've had to talk about over phone... Even through email it's like talking to robots

No, they weren't at all helpful! She kept asking me why I was calling!!! And then tried to dismiss me by saying her colleague was sending me a replacement parcel and an email telling me so! I've never had a problem with them before! I am starting to think it would have been easier, though, to have just asked the refund and then still ordered elsewhere. Now I'm going to end up with spares that are unlikely to need using for quite a while!

That's pretty bad! You could keep them as spares or return them? But it's super handy to have spares! I buy stuff I don't even need 😁

Oh god never ever choose yodel as a delivery service if you get a choice! They are horrendous. Ordered a tv through Amazon that yodel claimed to have delivered that never turned up until I got a replacement sent out! And the people at yodel just don't care whatsoever what happens to your parcels.

Dpd all the way. I love how they even give you an hour time slot of when your parcel will be delivered

In terms of zoo plus I've only used them once, ordered on the Friday and arrived the Monday. One item came damaged but it was a pretty full box and a hammer and nail later was easily fixed
