All 4 of mine are in my bedroom, it's pretty much a hamster room with a bed now though haha.

Apparently they don't keep you up at night or u wouldn't have them in your bedroom, right? The floors are thinner in the bedroom so I don't want the water bottles waking neighbor up?

Well, having 4 is quite a lot of noise to be honest. Myrcella's wheel isn't silent either so that doesn't help. There's always someone trying to chew bars, running on the noisy wheel and jumping up at the side of the bin cage on a cardboard box with gnaw blocks on... so it's quite a lot of noise haha. I sleep in the spare room quite often!

The Syrians probably make more noise than dwarves? Maybe once I start running the air conditioning it will be louder than the hamsters? Suppose it's easier to keep a small bedroom cool with the door shut 24/7 when it gets really hot which is often. Rather than keep the rest of the place cooled down 24/7. It's always something with hammies, never a dull moment

My four (two robos and two syrians) all have karlie wooden wheels so the noise is pretty minimal. They have water dishes too (Gopal has a bottle as well but it doesnt make a noise as far as I can tell).

My room is a hamster room with a bed too Winnie!

Do you keep a night light on for them? Just wondering? I like to keep night lights on for my hammies in the living room but if I kept them in the bedroom there is an outlet for one in there too.

No. Hamsters are nocturnal and need the darkness, something to do with their brain activity I read somewhere.

This might sound like a stupid question but hammies can see perfectly fine in the dark? Or is it that they smell their way around? I wonder if they can see both equally well during the day & in complete darkness?

They're not nocturnal as such, I think it's called crepuscular which means that they would normally be active at dawn and dusk with a rest period in between however I think they still need a certain amount of hours of darkness per day.

I can't remember how many hours that is though.

Yeah Crepuscular is the right word

At the moment it's really cold so I prefer to keep the curtains closed to keep the heat in. I leave my light on during the day and then they have the same hours of darkness as I have.

In terms of noise, the only hamsters I hear when I go into the kitchen (the room directly under mine) are if a Syrian is bar chewing. I never hear the noise from the dwarfs or chinese
