Default College courses

Hi this year in septemeber im hoping to go to an animal college and studying level 3 animal management and then go either to uni or get a job as a veterinary nurse. I just wondered if anyone is a Veterinary nurse or has done level 3 animal management and what you have done after college! Thanx

Hi, great choice! I work at The College of Animal Welfare so know quite a bit about the courses you mention. What is your long term goal?

Yh I just I wondered if level 3 animal management would get me a job as a Veterinary nurse! I was looking into going to uni and there was a degree at uni that let me in with my course about animal behaviour and wildlife somrhing and they went to South Africa and saw the lions

If I was you I would do a level 3 in veterinary nursing. I'm doing a level 3 diploma in animal management at the moment, and I too want to become a veterinary nurse. It would have been better for me to do veterinary nursing instead but at the time I just knew I wanted to work with animals.

I must say, I've done two level 3 diplomas, and this animal management one is extremely difficult and very stressful. Although, everything in education is! Also, it may differ for you because it could be a different college and work scheme.

I'm wanting to do an apprenticeship after college in veterinary nursing, I did want to go to uni to study it but because I find the level 3 so difficult and stressful I don't think I'd survive in Uni.

You need to make sure you're an organised person and can handle a lot of work load, be prepared and plan everything! I have to come in during holidays and my days off to stay on top of all the workload... but that's because I'm not an organised person and I procrastinate all the time.

It's extremely interesting though, and you learn so much! (mainly through your own research, the tutors barely teach you anything)

But as I said, It's probably just the way my college do things which is why it's so stressful. If you have any questions about the course please feel free to ask! But I recommend doing a Lvl 3 in Veterinary Nursing, because Animal management is more for things like being a zoo keeper etc..

I'm doing Level 3 Animal Management too and agree WinnieTheHam, it's very stressful and there is a lot of work. I also did a level 3 diploma in an unrelated subject a few years ago and it was nowhere near as much work as this one. A couple of weeks ago I had something ridiculous like 5 assignments on the go at once. You also have to fit in a work placement on top of college hours and coursework...or I think you do anyway, I know at my college it's mandatory.

I have around 3-4 assignments on the go usually but have had 6 before! Don't understand how they think it's manageable! I completely agree with you too Ghostsinsnow. I also had to do 300hours work placement.

The other Level 3 I did (not animal based subject), we got one assignment to do every 8 weeks, but with the animal management there's like 3 or 4 given out in the space of 1 week and there's 1-2 weeks to complete them. I think it's because there's 4 assignments for each subject, whereas in the other level 3 subject I did there was 1 assignment per subject.

Yep, 300 hours of work placement here too >.< I regularly have 3 on the go at once, sometimes 4 and I hate the longwinded ones like Kennel and Cattery was a long winded module with a huge assignment. I adore the subject but there's just so much work.

My other Level 3 was Music Tech and I breezed through it no trouble

Just thanx for the advice. I kind of thought the animal management would be better as it would give me a lot of options for future instead of just one job option! I have sent letters round for vets in my area to get a placement
