Default Lego birthday coming up

It's little boy's birthday in a couple of weeks. I've just ordered the new Millennium Falcon with the minifigures from the new film. He's always wanted one but they used to go for double the price of the new one as they were out of production. So after we had much discussion deciding against various other things he had mentioned, it has been ordered and I suddenly realised - I quite like the idea! I will be helping to build a millennium falcon (I expect).

He originally asked for a Teksta robot dog. Then said he'd like lego star wars, then a light sabre, then money for his ipod - so quite a few options there. We looked those up and thought they seemed a bit of a waste of money and had lots of bad reviews. Then we found a better robot dog - but it was so expensive I said heck I'd rather spend that on the millennium falcon. So that's what we've done. He already has a fairly good robot and the dog doesn't do much more. Luckily he seemed to be thinking more about lego and Star wars last time his birthday topic came up so hope it's the right present.

The problem at the moment is, there are a lot of new kits and they are all so good it's hard to decide which one! We could get two really good kits for the cost of the MF, but in the end - it's something you only buy once (Hopefully) and if we don't get it now it might get pricey and collectible again. Little boy has been quite astute - he already has nearly all the star wars minifigures that exist - so it doesn't matter which minifigures come with which kit (he got a lot of them for his 5th birthday and has bought a few he wanted on ebay as well, second hand).

Anyway - suddenly it's me who is getting excited lol. We're going to have a millennium falcon. Except I haven't got time to be excited so need to keep my nose to the ground now the present has been ordered.

Aww, I hope he likes the wonderful gift! It sounds like you put a lot of thought into it.

Thanks. Well things might change - if he suddenly specifically says something completely different in a week's time, but we usually get it right I've had a quiet couple of days so did the research then!

I think it's a good choice. A friend of mine recently bought one for himself and he's in his late 30's - he's quite pleased with it

Lol! I know when I read the reviews, a lot were from adults ha ha. Having looked at the odd video of it, it looks pretty big and awe-inspiring. He's only just getting interested in the ships - before that it was just the little figures he wanted. Everything was Ninjago until just before Christmas then suddenly Ninjago was out and Star Wars was back in (probably because of the new film and his best friend being back into Star Wars).

I'm sure he'll love it. It's quite sizable and I like the fact it opens up so you can play about with the inside! Just make sure he keeps all his Lego stuff in the years to come. My friend (same one lol) has kept all his and he has a massive collection that's worth a pretty penny now.

Thanks! I know they go for a fair bit when they become collectible, but ours rarely stay in one piece for long as they get played with. Although the Gungan sub is displayed nicely (He's forgotten he has that).

They're toys and meant to be played with at the end of the day so as long as he has fun with it. I have many found memories of destorying my brother's carefully built Legos!

Ha ha. We get tears big time if something drops off a newly built model. I have suggested glueing them but that is sacrilege (especially after seeing the Lego movie). He is also very good at building his own from parts of ones that have fallen apart. I think this one is one he'll want to keep fairly original though and have ready it is fairly sturdy for playing with. I'm hoping he'll forget about the ipod touch for a bit when he gets new lego

Haha! Well, I hope this one doesn't fall apart TOO easily, but they are Legos...
