Re: Lego birthday coming up
Apparently the millennium falcon is supposed to be quite sturdy for playing with It's the long pointy ships that usually fall apart I seem to remember.

Re: Lego birthday coming up
Oooh, that makes it even better. I do have a big collection of Legos myself (hey, they're fun for all ages!) and some of them fall apart so easily, but others stick like glue! I think it really varies on the pieces themselves!

Re: Lego birthday coming up
Well I'm in a spin now and wondering if I've done the right thing lol. Today I sounded out little boy by showing him the Lego shop online page. He went straight for one he has always wanted which was £250!!!!! I said sorry - that's out of our league. I just wanted to see which ones he liked. He liked lots of things but didn't take much notice of the Millenium Falcon. So I said oh so you don't want a millennium falcon then. He said oh yes I do! Trouble is he wants everything else on the page as well. So he ended up as confused as me looking at it. Because for the price of a MF you can get two or three really quite good smaller kits. But if we don't get it now it will probably never happen (they discontinue them and then they go for hundreds of pounds!). I think I'll just stick with it and he can save up for any others he wants Oh and he wants Kylo Ren's lightsabre as well - he said - do I have to have just lego (bless), can I have some lego and a lightsaber? I think he can wait for or save up for the lightsaber too - he's too dangerous to have one in the house lol. We got him a lightsabre torch as a compromise last year. These things are all SO expensive.

Re: Lego birthday coming up
Well got that sorted. I copied and pasted photos of three possible lego kits and showed him the pictures and said which one of those three would you like the most, and he chose the millennium falcon. So that's that sorted. If he wants a lightsaber he can ask his uncle lol.

Re: Lego birthday coming up
Thanks Fluffy Hamster! Yes he will love it when he opens it. And it will keep him off his ipod for a while lol. I got a couple of extra minifigures on ebay to go with it, from the other two kits he liked, so he will have Kylo Ren and a couple of Flametroopers to go with it, so that should solve some of the angst!

Re: Lego birthday coming up
What fun! I am not surprised you are looking forward to helping build it. I used to do that with my son and loved teaching him. Come to think of it it is his birthday in April and he is only going to be 33! Perhaps I should offer him a Millenium Falcon!!

Re: Lego birthday coming up
If he hasn't had one before, he might like one! Little boy wanted 'Slave 1' (Bobba Fett's ship and also a bit of an icon) which is an Ultimate Collector edition and absolutely huge! It also cost £170!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Millennium Falcon is £129 - not cheap by any means but cheaper than they have been for many years, as they have been out of production for years and therefore prices went through the roof for any available ones. If you have Tesco Clubcard vouchers you can get it from Tesco and use them to part pay for it. Maybe sound him out and see what reaction you get! It is so expensive though. I had to bite the bullet as it could be a lot more expensive again in the future, when they finish this run, and if little boy wanted one in 3 years might not be able to afford it then. So we've got it now. It's a huge box! Hidden in our wardrobe.
