Default Well this is fun

Yesterday I saw some ducks walking along on the frozen river that our house is on, I rushed to get my tablet so I would be able to film it and put it up on youtube.

However...

We have holes in the floor with covers that give access to the basement crawl space under the floors, the one in the bedroom had no cover on it though the others had all been put back for my parents visit. (My dad had cracked a rib before he visited, I can't have him or my step mum dodging around holes in our floor) At the window I was just getting ready to film, when I had forgotten the cover wasn't on the hole. Too many steps to the left and I fell right down it.

I did see a doctor for my fall about three or so hours after it happened, in the meantime I had to call my OH's mum to get some sort of help. So now I have cracked one of my own ribs on my left side at the back. I also managed to do something to my knee as its all swollen up. It didn't swell up til the evening, but I got a doctor appointment for that tomorrow. Also putting icepacks on it to make the swelling down.

All this means not only am I in pain but I can't get Cindy out when she's up in the afternoon doing her spider ham for attention thing, I'm unable to lift the two cages off her in order to get her out. I feel bad for forcing her to stay in her cage when she wants out, but I'm on my own while my OH is at work or he would be able to lift them for me.

Oh Blue, so wishing you a speedy recovery, plenty rest really is the best solution. Maybe you could get your OH to lift the cage down before he goes to work? It would mean Cindy's cage being in a different place for during the day but it would only be till you feel better!
Did the doc give you painkillers?

Arrrg! Why are there holes in your floor with no covers!! An accident waiting to happen! So sorry it happened to you. It must have been frightening and painful. Spider-ham will just have to deal with it until you can sort something out. Take care of yourself! x

Get those holes covered before you let hammy out. If he disappears under the floor, then you'll have a hell of a job getting him out.

He could do that after I've given Tank his painkillers, then she will be on top and easy to get out. I'm not sleeping well right now so I'll be up early anyhow, this can be arranged. I got some painkillers paracetamol and ibuprofen, I gotta take them four times a day and I can take one of each at a time if I need or one of ibuprofen or two paracetamol.

We had the covers off to dry out the basement. Usually I would remember the hole was there but I wanted to film those ducks so badly, and I just forgot the hole was there at all. I was pretty calm about getting out the hole, I finished lunch then showered only after that the pain hit me hard. Only thing I knew I could do was call my OH's mum to come over, she's a star she really is and arranged a doctor's appointment. Even helped me get my socks and shoes on, helped me in and out of the car etc. I'm resting up now and OH has promised to help with chores, I suppose he feels terrible I got hurt.

Lol don't worry there's no holes where she's allowed to run, Cindy is so small I suspect if she did manage to get down there the fall would be very bad for her. Yummy on the other hand my escaping syrian has managed to get in to the basement through a small hole she found, and spent an entire night down there on her own. Luckily she wasn't hurt so maybe she didn't drop down but managed to climb, I mean its solid concrete down there.

That's sounds painful! Broken ribs are really horrible, hope you heal up soon.
