My best ham related gift came from daughter Dusty. It is a zmodo HD wireless camera. It does lots of things but it is the ability to keep an eye on your pet (amongst other things of course) from elsewhere that is going to be fun. Hubby used the MAC address to set it up. Then I downloaded the Zsight app onto my iPad and created an account. So far I have only given it a quick test. You don't need to have a computer on to use it. Just plug in to mains and point at cage. Picture comes up on tablet. If daylight it is in colour. If dark, the camera has its own infrared lights that come on and I can spy on Mocho who thinks it is dark and safe to come out and hamster around unseen. So I can watch him from upstairs when in bed!
The big test will come in Feb when I have to be away for one night for work. Then hubby will set up the camera at home and I will see if I can access it from 100 miles away!

That sounds amazing! I can't imagine how it works but it sounds amazing. Little boy is chuffed to bits with his ipod and it's been in his pocket most of the day when not being used, and he's been up and down the hall in his roller skates. We watched National Velvet this evening. So that was our late Christmas Day, ended in style with a knock at the door from that nice Tesco delivery man. We're hoping to see the Star Wars film this week. Charlie seems to be in the Christmas spirit too and seems happy and cuddly.

That sounds like a fun and successful day. Enjoy the film!
I am not sure how the camera works. I think the footage goes to the cloud or something and then you can access it via the account on the app. You can record the footage onto an sd card. There is also a microphone so if Mocho really missed me I could speak to him via the camera but I guess that would freak him out!!

Lol! The visions of that! Here I am sitting in my cage nibbling thinking I'm all by myself and a voice suddenly came out of nowhere, with no human smells attached. Seriously though I think he might like it! We're going to see the Star Wars film tomorrow afternoon - it's booked (before the rain comes on Wednesday). Initially we thought little boy was too young and would need to wait till he is older, but after reading reviews it seems to a) depend on the child and b) I'm prepared to put my hand over his eyes at three points during the film (as advised by a reviewer). He really wants to see it and quite logically argued that he has seen all the others. The main difference is the big screen is more graphic than TV. Someone said their 3 year old loved it so I guess it's ok. I know there are a couple of scenes that might be upsetting so we've prepared him for that and told him to accept having a hand over his eyes a couple of times. It's annoying - they could have left those bits out and made it a PG.

I'm really excited about seeing it actually I saw the first one 7 times when it was first released, and lost count now, but over 20! I even taught it in media studies once (an example of low wide angle photography shots).

Still have lots of worries in the back of my mind about housing but we're having a couple of days of festivities before I go back to thinking about that.

The younger generation in my family have all seen it and really enjoyed it. I have lots of close eyes moments these days even on tv. Star Wars Lego looks fun. One of my regrets as my son grew up was that I had no excuse to do Lego with him any more!

I'm ashamed to say I don't like doing lego with little boy. My eyesight isn't good enough for the teeny tiny pieces that come in the kits these days, and he always wants it finished too quickly - so it's more a case of we start out doing it then he wanders off or puts the TV on and expects it finished in a flash lol. He got some Star Wars lego as well. He is only really interested in the little lego people and their helmets and weapons! But he does like the ships when they're built.

It's been a very long time since I did Lego. It sounds complicated and fiddly now.
I am glad little boy is so pleased with his iPod. Carrying it around all day is a good sign.
The weather forecast for Wednesday is awful everywhere it seems. Is everything still OK in your town?

It's ok where we are but not far away in Cumbria keeps getting badly hit. More floods in Carlisle and more flood warnings for Wednesday. We live opposite a big river and it never floods - ironical. It's a long way down and controlled by reservoirs. Yet its classed as a high risk flood zone and hard to get house insurance. Yet places that aren't in flood risk zones are getting flooded by surface water flooding. Some of the roads round here get pretty bad hence we don't go to the cinema if bad rain is forecast as the road to the town where the cinema is gets flooded.

Little boy keeps calling it his 'phone'. I keep telling him it isn't a phone it's a mini tablet. But to him it looks like a phone, so it's a phone lol. Even though it doesn't make phone calls.

Thanks Harry. We're fine - not good for parts of Yorkshire and Cumbria though. Your hamster presents sound fun! I sent hamster Christmas cards to my family (the ones with the 3 Hamster kings!) and kept one for Charlie to send to us.

I'm not impressed with Minecraft so far! Little boy just seems to want to blow up sheep rather than be creative and build things! Might have to look at the settings.
