Re: Hello again!
Thanks Lizzy, it was horrible having to give her up, I think about her all the time. But I know she's in a good home and being well cared for, so I'm glad about that. I'm sorry you also struggle with mental health. The mind can be both a terrible and wonderful thing. That makes sense. I remember loving the routine of looking after hamsters when I had them, and I miss that.

Re: Hello again!
It's good she's in a good home. I'm glad you've posted about your battle with mental illness, I've spoken about mine too. The more people talk about it, the better. I used to feel so ashamed by mine but, I don't now, it's part of me, some days are great and some days can feel so low. Having hamsters over the years has been positive, the joy they bring and the love they give is truly amazing.
It sounds like your mum has been a truly great support for you.
If you ever need to chat, I'm here for you xxx

Re: Hello again!
Welcome back!!
Terribly sorry to hear that you have been through a tough time
So sorry about Pygmypuff x
But I'm sure Peekaboo is being well looked after with her new family!
I really hope you are okay now though.
And if your really up for it I would say definitely go ahead and get a hamster for Christmas. They're just so adorable, guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Also it means, and I'm sure the other members will agree with me when I say this, that we can all be introduced to a new ham on the forum and see you around more often
Once again hope you are okay! x

Re: Hello again!
It would be great to see you on the forum more and like Robodwarfs said, having a hamster makes you smile, they like routine and this has helped me and will be the same for you.
Plus, you've got plenty support here and I know you've got lots of love to give a hammy.

Re: Hello again!
Hi. I was doing stuff in the hamster room and remembered something else that might (or might not) be useful. I don't do it so much now because I have Cleo, my Syrian but when it was just Hector & therefore less hands on interaction, I had a notebook for recording everything. I found it helped me feel more involved & better able to stick to a routine with him. Every cage clean I recorded what I had put in his cage, what items I had bought and where from (so I could get them again if need be) what food & treats he had tried - that sort of thing. And any taming updates. It helped give me a bit of order & control, if that makes sense.

Re: Hello again!
Glad I could help! I'm a real stationary nerd so I get joy from buying nice notebooks. It doesn't sound much to a lot of people but sometimes I have to set myself small challenges so I can easily accomplish them if I'm not doing so good. So for example in that case my "challenge" was to look round town to find the "right" notebook. And a nice pen to write it all down

Re: Hello again!
Nothing wrong in that Velma, I would have a list and would tick off the things I had done. I also kept a diary of their progress. This helps me whenever I go through a bad patch or feel things start to slide.
They become so dependent on you and vice versa.
