Default Back Home.. Trip Details!

We actually arrived late Monday, pretty much at 7:00pm on the dot! But I was unable to post that night because Tom and I spent much of the night unpacking our clothes and things and tidying up around the place and checking emails (ebay stuff for me) before we sat down to really relax. So it felt kind of hectic.

And then my excuse for not posting on Tuesday.. Well neither of us felt like doing anything! And we had to wake up early that morning for some important appointments, then came back home and then back out again for groceries! After that neither of us felt like doing much, And I didn’t care to sit down and write about my trip to Canada yet...

Anyway.. The trip was great! It’s about a 10-hour drive there and 10 hours on the way back depending on traffic. But luckily for us traffic was smooth and we made good time. It was nice traveling in our new cobalt, so comfy! We brought our own healthy food so as not to upset our stomachs from the greasy food stops with the anxiety of making a 10 hour trip and staying in an unfamiliar house.. (Our bodies both react strangely to being away from home)

It use to be terrible when we were crossing the border for immigration stuff. Tom would get constipated like you wouldn’t believe, and I would have to be on the toilet like every hour while I spent most of my night visiting and hugging the toilet because I was sick to my stomach and nervous about the border crossing on the way home!!!

This time was nice though! No stomach problems and smooth crossing at the border.. I felt cool passing the customs guard my "permanent residency card"! Because how can they ague with that?!! Mwahahahahaha

There is something about Canada when you cross into it. To tom and I anyway.. And anyone we know who has been there agrees that there is this different feeling to the atmosphere. It almost does feel more “free” when you get over there. And somehow things just seem more “clean” People are typically friendlier and the driving inst as crazy as it is in the USA and over all I think there is less litter on the ground.

It was nice seeing my mom and my sisters (all four of them) and my step dad. Its been a while since iv been there. Probably about a year and a half to two years. They moved into another home, which they are renting in the country. Now when I saw “the country” I mean huge open fields with forest that separate them from other fields, foggy dewy mornings, and the light fresh sent of manure on the air. Your neighbor’s house looks like a small box in the distance and is about a concession away from you, but you can still see their cows/horses out in the fields pretty well. I love the Canadian countryside!

My parents are living in a nice large country home surrounded by cornfields and evergreen trees. So it’s really nice! They also got another dog! I told my mom there better be a new dog in the house when I next came to visit. My dog who’s name was dino passed away sometime after I moved here. It was from old age. But it would have been so weird going home and there not being a dog.

The had been looking at this certain breed called a leonberger.. I know funny name right.. but it’s a large dog from Germany, referred to also as “one of the giant breeds” And giant it is!! I tell ya this dog is a beast! His name is Benson and Benson can easily place his head on both the table the kitchen counter tops. His back was taller then my waist line and I’m 5’4! He weights about 160 pounds. But he was a gentle giant and I think I miss him the most! I miss having a dog and Benson was the best! He was very well behaved. I don’t have any pictures on hand of Benson, but here is a picture of the breed.

Height: Dogs 29-31 inches (74-80 cm.)

Bitches 27-29 inches (61-74 cm.)

Weight:
Males 130-170 pounds (59-77 kg.)

Bitches 100-130 pounds (45-59 kg.)

I want one!!! I was even surprised to hear my husband Tom say that Benson was a beautiful dog. Tom isn’t a dog person, mainly because his allergies. But they have been getting much better over time and so has his attitude towards dogs, even the really large breeds! One day when I get my own home with lots of property Ill be getting one!

Anyway all over the entire trip was great, my family including aunts, uncles and grandmas and grandpas came over for an early thanksgiving just because tom and I were coming! I missed my moms home cooking and she always made the best turkey dinners! We also got a nice breakfast of eggs and hash browns and that yummy Canadian bacon! We almost didn’t have any food though , the night we arrived my mom went to turn on the oven to bake some pies and the oven blew up, orange sparks were rolling across the floor and almost caught poor Benson on fire! But they managed to call up a rent to own place to come get a oven in the morning, my mom was freaking out! heh

On Sunday we took my parents and two younger sisters out for panzerotti, it’s like the America calzone but bigger and even better! Iv told tom about them lots of times and finally he was able to try one, and he approved of it many times over! We might have to send for some frozen ones! Heh.

I had about 36 emails when I got home lol. Its nice to be back and we did miss our pets! We bought some new fish tanks stuff for our 75 gallon when we were there, so today we are probably going to the pet store after we eat with our Armenian friends for lunch and tell them all about the trip! ( I need new bedding for the rodents among other things!)

I want to thank you Babyboos for managing things while I was a gone, there were quite a few new posts made over the weekened! Hello also to all those who are new and that I missed!

Well I’m off for now! Much to do still!
