Having a strange online classifieds exchange!

I do a little sewing for mine and others' pets, specifically chinchillas. Working on some kitty toys right now to donate but basically small stuff. I had bought myself a really neat table to use for cutting my fabric on and it's huge! But it's also compact thanks to its design, it folds up and can roll away when not in use. It's not an antique or anything special, just a commercial breakfast nook table that a carpenter modified for a seamstress. Anyway, don't need a surface so large so I put it up for sale. I had some interest in it but nothing serious, then this morning I got an email from someone who did sound serious but she wasn't sure where I was and thought I might be too far for her to come take a look. I'm thinking this is an elderly person, someone who can't easily get out and as I have access to a truck I thought I'd find out a little more and if so, I might offer to drive the table to her so she could see it. After all, I live on an island, how far apart can we be?!

So this afternoon I get the latest email; she's in Alabama!!! She writes that since I'm in Washington State (I'm not) that maybe I can ship it to her. I am completely mystified by this. The website I advertised on is a Canadian website, specifically for my city, and even includes a map of my location in the ad! We are almost as far apart as we can get, I in the Northwest and she in the Southeast. What gives???

Sounds like a scam. I've heard of these before. The delivery company will turn out be fake or the cheque will bounce or something! Don't do it braingirl!

Oh I'm not! Don't worry. Even if it was legitimately someone who wanted the table, it's not worth her while to have it shipped. I directed "her" to an Ikea table that is very similar. I may report her to the people who run the classifieds site so they can put a warning out. Thanks

That's good, I was worried that they may take your hard earned money that would be far better spent on hamster cages, hamster toys, hamster treats, hamster food, general hamster accessories, hamster food bowls, hamster water bottles, actual hamsters, and generally all things hamsters haha

Just an update, the exchange probably wasn't a scam after all. A couple more emails and it turns out that this person is probably geographically...challenged...shall we say? She's going to have her husband try to build one similar to it
