Re: Lies the Petstore told us!
They told me the tiny goldfishes were adults so I don't have to worry about changing an aquarium. Well one year later we got a 9" gcomet goldfish!

Re: Lies the Petstore told us!
When I told the PAH employee the measurements of the barney I was using for my syrian Willow, she said 'wow, is that a guinea pig cage?' followed by 'I'd not use that cage for a dwarf as they would get scared and lost'.

They told me the snakes there were docile and dislikes going out their cages/aquarium. You sure! Cuz I have some friends I can phone and prove that snakes are still roaming outside the neighborhood today!

Oh yeah, the worker in my local pet store told me a 5" wheel is perfect for a Syrian, plus its cheap! I could slap that guy across the face if I could find him again.

Re: Lies the Petstore told us!
I recently had someone confuse the animals I was buying for for a rat. No, I just spoil my hamsters x___x

Re: Lies the Petstore told us!
I was told by an employee when I went looking for a guinea pig pair
'' oh and here are our new baby guinea pigs....''
she was pointing to a pair a Syrian hamsters! I corrected her gently, but she got indignant and told me there was no such thing as a Syrian hamster, only giant hamsters (?) and dwarf hamsters......oh dear.
I was also told that the guinea pig pair I adopted were two sisters: Bella and Sandy. Well....Bella turned out to be a fella! Six babies later.... we had a herd of piggies.

Re: Lies the Petstore told us!
Oh my. That's unfortunate! Luckily most of mine have just been confused employees who don't get that I want meal worms for hamsters, or that I'm worried about them escaping, or why I don't want fluffy bedding etc.

Re: Lies the Petstore told us!
I think the only one I've ever had from an employee directly to me was 'hamsters can't eat these (millet and mealworms). They're for birds. They'll definitely make your hamster ill'.
I fel a bit sorry for her because she genuinely thought that she was protecting my hamsters from some digestive upset! When I explained that they were perfectly fine, she calmed down a bit and said she'd learned something new haha!
I have had to interrupt employees giving other people advice though. I once heard a mini duna being recommended for a TRIO of robos, saying because they were litter mates they'd be able to share the one wheel. And also had to stop a woman buying fluffy bedding because it looked cosy, and the employee was like 'oh yes, they'll love it'. Most people were happy I explained stuff to them, and the sales staff just looked kind of embarrassed!
