My pretty visitor
Tried to take pictures of it but it's so small and so far away from my camera that I can't get a clear one. It's another small jewel that's appeared in my life though! I've never seen a moth quite like it. It's about 2cm across and white with black edged wings and small, black spots in the middle. In the picture they've blurred and look more like smudges in a line. Until I can find out what it is I think it would be safe to call it a Dalmation Moth

Re: My pretty visitor
See if you can crop it more Braingirl. It looks really pretty. You know I love black and white...even in moths

Re: My pretty visitor
I tried but it just got fuzzier In person the moth is gorgeous! Maybe if I can use a piece of furniture to prop my camera on to stop any shaking when it's at full zoom...

Re: My pretty visitor
Oh, that is pretty. Good shot. I downloaded your photo and cropped it. Then I uploaded it to photobucket. So let's see how it comes out
LOL...Yours came out much clearer. I wonder what kind it is?

Re: My pretty visitor
Wish I knew! It turns out there already is such a thing as a Dalmation Moth but it looks nothing like this one.

Re: My pretty visitor
Oh wow, this is amazing! I just found an identification site where you upload your photo of the moth or butterfly you want identified, then crop a piece of the wing pattern and it will search through its database of pictures to try to come up with a match!

Re: My pretty visitor
Trying it now! It's a very slow site. I don't know if that means it's busy or what but it's taking longer than expected. Unfortunately when I crop out a small section of wing for the pattern id it goes even fuzzier and I think that gives the program problems...

Re: My pretty visitor
I love some of the moth species!! The visitor you had is beautiful! We have some in FL that are gorgeous! My favorite is the Luna Moth. They are becoming rare...I've only seen one since moving here 8 years ago. This isn't my picture, but it IS a Luna moth.
