Well, I was sick and tired of wrestling with my super long locks so I went into see my stylist this past Saturday, and had my "Rapunzel" hair (as my neighbor's little girl called it), turned into a stylish and sophisticated bob (much like Kelly Ripa's).
Its taking some getting used to, but I love it. No more morning battles with the hairbrush. No more spending time, and water, in the shower washing my seemingly endless tresses and no more spending half an hour in front of the mirror holding up hair dryer to get it all dry (and having to deal with the super "poof" effect it gets from doing it).
My stylist said my hair was so long and thick that I had enough hair for 6, maybe even 10 people!!
My mother went and saved the hair I had cut off to add to her growing collection of it. She says she'll have it made into a wig someday for a family member to use when they go bald from having cancer and undergoing Chemotherapy. She said it would be a family heirloom, or my legacy, or something ridiculous like that.
I guess I should be flattered about that, but it feels silly to me. Well, my stylist said my hair's natural color (strawberry blonde) is what many people ask to dye their hair to (and apparently spend a ton of money each year to maintain).
I am just happy to have it nice and manageable now, especially for the warmer summer months ahead.
