When I was first starting out with gardening, I seemed to have a black thumb too. Then my mom told me to stop loving my plants so much and ignore them a bit. She was right lol. I was overwatering my indoor plants and killing them pretty much. Out door gardens do need to be watered daily (full sun beds anyway), but I was going about it all wrong.
So love them through neglect? I guess I could give that a try. I am willing to do anything to get plant life to stay green under my care.

I love gardening. My Dad either worked as a gardener or looked after people's horses when I was a kid so I had lots of encouragement. We have pictures of me as a toddler planting seeds and apparently I'd go out to the garden first thing every morning to see if they had grown yet.

We only have a smaller garden now but all the flowerbeds were full of strawberry plants until we took in 2 rescue rabbits 4 years ago. In one summer they ate all of the plants or just chewed bits off and didn't eat them. Then that winter they dug up the roots and ate them too. So now we have flowerbeds of mud and I have lots of tall containers that they can't jump into and baskets attached to the wall and fences. We can still manage to grow garlic as they don't like that and we have 1 rose bush, and a something like a bird of paradise (but with different flowers) and a couple of other shrubs that the rabbits don't like. Any low growth on the rose bush gets eaten so it looks quite scruffy as we can't prune it as short as we should or the rabbits would eat all of the new growth.

When I lived at home we had a big garden and one year we had a really great pumpkin patch and we grew loads of vegetables too. I live too far from my mum to use her garden and allotments are far too hard to get hold of. I love my house and don't plan to ever move again but it would be nice to have a bigger garden.

Neat. They kind of look like strawberry plants in a way. Colorful strawberry plants.

Where I am from, Morning Glories are a weed. They usually crop up in the garden from time to time.

And lastly
The Chocolate Morning Glory

All the Morning Glories are around the fences of my garden and the Coleus plants are done in Big Patio pots that each have a Giant Kong with 4 other the other varieties around it.

Some from 2012 are pictured below. I adore my garden.

Wow, that's quite the extensive garden, DrKMcK, and those Morning Glories are absolutely gorgeous.

My mother has a ton of irises in her front and side garden. They are mostly lavender in color, with one or two being a deep dark (almost black) purple. We call those the black irises, and they bloom later than the lavender colored ones. In fact, the irises should be in bloom in about a month from now.
