Default Opinions on ombré hair?

Hi guys.
So I am one of those people who gets bored of their hair very quickly. I have had the same style for 6 years (I like the style and am afraid nothing else would suit me) but I am forever changing the colour. I've had it:
Red
Blue
Green
Dark Purple
Violet
Silver/Grey
Black
Blonde
Brown
Brown dip dyed red
Brown dip dyed blonde
Brown with blonde highlights
And once multicoloured which is all honesty looked like someone had vomited on my head.

But I am really liking the ombré hair at the moment - I'll attach a picture for anyone who doesn't know what ombré is.

I was just wanting peoples opinion.
I'm getting it done soon (very handy having a sister in law who is a hairdresser)
The thing is, I'm not having it done on my own hair (it's too damaged from the last time I bleached it and if I were to bleach it again it would snap off and break for sure) so i'm having extensions put in and dying those.
I've never really had long hair, only chest length but the extensions will be a bit longer.
Has anyone has extensions before? They're the glue in ones. I'm thinking it will look really good

I have to admit that I am not a terribly huge fan of ombré hair. Just not my style. However, if you like it, then by all means, go for it.

I couldn't help but notice that you mentioned your hair was very damaged. I have great success in my methods for growing naturally beautiful and uber healthy hair. Maybe it'll work for you? Here is what I do.

First of all, I don't wash my hair every single day. Doing so strips the hair of its natural oils and that dies it out terribly. It also causes your hair's folicals to go into overdrive to make up for the oils its been stripped of, so it produces a ton of oils in a short amount of time making your hair look really greasy really fast. I prefer to wash it at least every other day, to every two days. This allows the hair to maintain a natural balance of its own oils.

Secondly, I don't put anything extra in my hair. That includes hair dyes, chemical straighteners, leave in anything and especially bleaching products. These just strip the hair strand's topmost layer off, which gives the hair its shine and strength, and leaves the hair dull and brittle.

Third, I have naturally thick hair, plus it grows really long really fast. So, I usually let it get really long, about as long at it'll go, which is down to my hips. Then I cut it off and donate it to Locks of Love to help them make wigs for kids who are battling cancer and have lost their hair from chemotherapy.

Its good to cut the dry, split ends off every once in a while to keep the hair looking healthy. I go to the extreme and cut off about a foot and a half, but meh, its your choice what amount you cut off.

I'm no hair dressing expert, but I'm afraid that if your hair is as brittle and dry as you say it is, it won't be able to keep the extensions in. I think it would be best to just lop off the dry, brittle, unhealthy sections of your hair, and keep what healthy hair you have left and go from there. As drastic as that may sound, I do believe the damaged hair is beyond saving and needs to go to keep what healthy hair you have left as healthy looking as possible.

When I worked in a salon, I saw a few people getting the ombre look.
I am not a fan, and it always reminds me of regrowth with huge roots.
I did hairdressing a few years ago, and have picked up some tips as well.

If your hair is damaged the worse thing you can do is keep applying colour/bleach. I have been there and lost about 8inches of hair due to brakeage. and I have seen worse. Lots of deep conditioning treatments needed and if you do want to change hair colour try the wash in wash out ones as they don't have the chemicals in that damage as much as the permanent ones. your only meant to colour your hair every 6-8 weeks due to chemicals.
I have dyed my hair extentions for years. you have to make sure its real hair otherwise that would break it. The only thing I found with dyeing my extensions is that they can look a different colour to me real hair and you could be left with a 3 tone hair. If your having your extensions put in by a hairdresser you will be best ask her advice on it as she will know. Depending on how much your getting charged to start off with will depend on the quality of the hair. If your paying £100 its not going to be great, where as if your paying the £400 mark you know your having quality. By the glue in ones, do you mean individually glued in or is it a long strip. These days the microrings seam to be the better choice, along with the cold fusion.
