Had to put my dog to sleep
My 14 year old dog Kristy was put to sleep yesterday and I'm devastated, heartbroken and feel so numb. I haven't stopped crying since She was my best friend and my life. The house just feels so lonely without her. I don't know how I'm going to get over this. If anyone one has been through this please tell me it gets better because right now I don't think it will.
Here is my beautiful baby

Oh I am so sorry
It does get better with time - you don't get over it as such but you learn to cope. She will never be too far away from you x

Re: Had to put my dog to sleep
Oh no, I'm so very sorry, Serena. I can't even imagine how you must feel. I have yet to go through the loss of a dog, because I was too ill to have one when I was younger, Molly is my best friend and my first puppy.
I only know how close you must have been, and how utterly broken you must feel without her. I know I'm not helping and I'm sorry, but I understand a best friend is hard to lose.
I am so sorry, truly, and I hope things get better.
Just think of what a fantastic life she lived with you. 14 is a good age for a westie, and from that pic and the look on her little face, she must have been one pampered little lady. It's so hard now, but if it was her time then it was in loving her that you let her go. She's now at peace and young again.
Sleep tight Kristy. xx

Re: Had to put my dog to sleep
So sorry to hear that news - at least you enjoyed all those years with her, ups and downs...he will always have paw prints in your heart...sleep well lil girl x
As a child, I had a German Shepherd that was rescued after being kept solely in a kitchen for a few months...she was my best friend, and had to be PTS after having kidney problems far too young. I wish I could give you advice but I have no idea what you must feel after that relationship, but I can see how special she was to you x

I am so very sorry.
Kristy was absolutely beautiful!!
I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel. My baby is 11 now and even the thought of him not being here scares me something rotton.
One day you'll be able to look back at the 14 years you spent together and smile at all the memories and fab times you had together.
Zak my lab sends you lots of sloppy kisses.
Hugs to you x
Sleep tight Kristy xx

Aww, I'm so sorry for your loss. He looks a gorgeous dog and he is in peace now in doggy heaven. You won't get over it completely, as you clearly love him very much, but you will learn to cope and manage with the loss. x

Re: Had to put my dog to sleep
I am so sorry you lost your little buddy Kirsty. Run free little girl and send your love to your loving human who misses you dearly. It is heartbreaking to lose a well loved buddy, but one day when the raw pain ebbs away you will smile again one day. Kirsty would not want you to be heartbroken all the time. Remember all the good times and that you were the one she chose to spend her life with. Because of you, she had a loving life, which all animals so richly deserve. Hugs to you xx

Re: Had to put my dog to sleep
I am so very sorry. I know how hard it is to lose someone so precious that has shared your life for so long. It does get better though when your heart accepts that it has to be that way and then you can look back and remember and smile. The lump in your throat goes and the verge of tears goes and is replaced by the joy of remembering the times you had and being thankful you had that chance.
Play well at the bridge lovely Kristy and send a rainbow to your mum one day and she will know you are safe. xxx

Re: Had to put my dog to sleep
I am so sorry for your loss. It's been more than 10 years since I lost my boy and though the pain has lessened I still get a twinge when I think about him. He and I had many years together and lots of adventures and I treasure my memories of him. You and her were so lucky to have known each other, I hope your pain passes soon and leaves you with just the happy memories x
