Re: Hidden kingdom bbc1. Anyone watching?
I watched it Tutu and loved it! I knew some of the footage was added in to create a larger than life perspective, but I had to admire the camera crew`s stamina for setting up the little shrew run and coaxing it to take part! So sweet and the mouse attacking the scorpion was amazing. I know meerkats are good at hunting scorpions and snakes, but this wee mouse takes the biscuit! Can`t wait until the next chapter.
Wish they would do a documentary on wild dwarf hamsters and Mongolian gerbils!

Re: Hidden kingdom bbc1. Anyone watching?
I never knew tiny little mouse can roar like that amazed me. This is silly question but What's difference between gerbil and mongolian gerbil? I really like the name mongolian gerbil but I suppose their lives won't be as interesting as those mouse as there is no scorpion in Mongolia but I wonder how do they survive -40c winter months??!!! I visited in Mongolia and boy that country is cold and snowy. When I came across name mongolian gerbil I thought I should rescue some and name them all sorts of mongolian warrior names. However I have no knowledge of how to look after gerbils

Re: Hidden kingdom bbc1. Anyone watching?
The term Mongolian gerbil derives from the species we keep as pets. I`m sure there are other species of gerbil which are also related to jirds and kangaroo rats! It`s amazing how some of our best loves furries come from arid areas and extremely cold areas, while some tolerate high temperatures by staying below the ground during the day!
Gerbils are great little characters but they can find trouble because of their nodey natures! Jirds are bigger and lovely creatures, but I never owned any even though I would have loved some. These days I would only keep gerbils if I could section off a large area of a room and make a large floored sectional housing with Perspex. Glass tanks are the safest housing, but tanks never seem large enough for me to house gerbils in. They just don`t feel large enough. Although a four foot long glass aquarium would do as long as the gerbils were also given plenty of running about during playtimes! x

Re: Hidden kingdom bbc1. Anyone watching?
I googled Hidden Kingdom and I tried to order the DVD from the BBC store. It wouldn't take my info, so I contacted them by e-mail and I'm waiting for a reply. I love shows like this. It turns out that there will be 3 parts to this series. I'd like to get all of them. :-/

DrKMcK, did you know about the BBCi player? If you go to the BBC website and look for iPlayer, you can watch the series online.
