Default Rules

Does anybody else hate the silly rules here on HC? Like no chit-chat on the threads, even the ones that are in the community games area? How are we supposed to make friends on here. Or how about when our posts get removed for no good reason and then no mod explains why? And what about freedom of speech?

There is no such thing!
I personally am censored all the time, even if I'm just having a conversation!
And half the time with no explanation!
I would understand if the thread was serious, or important, but if its a conversational thread, why say no chit chat?
Maybe we just talk too much Hamsterhelper...

I don't believe a moderator is watching us right now, but then again you never know. Our posts I'm sure will all be removed along with our accounts if we continue.
But at this point I don't really care. Its not fair for us as contributing members of Hamster Central to be censored and bullied constantly about having a conversation with each other.
If that is what this site is, I've wasted a lot of my time on here!

When you joined the forum you accepted and agreed to abide by the rules of the forum.
These can be read here:
Forum Rules
One of the rules discourages chit chat as this excludes other members and it is very annoying to look on a thread and find it full of to and fro chit chat.
The purpose of the forum is primarily to share knowledge about hamsters and to help members having problems with their hamsters or wanting information by exchanging knowledge and offer advice based on your own experience.
There are many social media sites where you can easily chat and make friends and should you wish to contact another adult member by PM and agree to chat on another media that is your choice as an adult however the forum is not the place to do this.
The moderators enforce the rules when they see fit and are fully backed up by the site owner and admin to ensure the forum runs smoothly and does not submerge under a sea of chit chat. The mods do not need to and do not have time to tell you about every modification we make.
I hope you will read back over some of the chit chat you have posted and try and understand how this looks to other members.

I was told the problem with our 'chit chatting' was that it excluded other members on the forum.
But that is not the case, I welcome anyone to join in to any of my conversations.
Like my 'poots' thread, where we were discussing the flatulence of our hamsters, SinNyx jumped right in and joined our conversation, and we did not shun her, or anything of the sort, so how are we excluding anyone?
I WELCOME more users into my discussions, I do not shun or exclude anyone. So that is just completely false.
And how are you expected to not chit chat on a thread that is posted souly for the purpose of chatting?
Like the thread where you post your picture and tell something about yourself. I think people commenting back and forth complimenting one another is a beautiful thing. and there are HUNDREDS of users on there doing just that.
So why were we the only ones targeted about our chatting?
Please explain THAT to me.

This tread I want to jump in if I may I'm guessing rules apply if you were to jump into someone's existing tread (like i'm doing now) and it goes on and on and original poster is not even there and original subject is "blurred " ? Saying that I just read tread about "poots" and made me laugh so much you see I love reading funny treads along with serious or sad or angry ones.

tutu, of course you can join in, we love when people do, even though the mods say we don't. Hamster poots was started by syrianmomma7 so the original poster was there. Most of us on here love the funny chit/chat thread like hamster poots!

Posting rude and insulting messages is not really the way forward. I certainly feel when reading some conversations that I am eavesdropping on a conversation and would not want to butt in.
The 'picture' thread has been running for a very long time and yes people comment but this is a one of to one picture just like you might comment on someones hamster picture saying it was cute. You would not then strike up a conversation with another member discussing other things and chatting about the cuteness of your hamster for example.
It is important to distinguish between the purpose of a forum and social media like twitter etc where you can chat freely without removing concentration from the important matters which come up on a forum.
The moderators care about the forum and it's smooth running and purpose as a helpful resource for hamster owners.
It is your choice whether you wish to come on our forum or not.
