Default pet shops

whats it like working in a pet shop? I've just been thinking about this recently and thought I might be able to do it, if its not too stressful. also would you be able to work in a petshop and do a degree and get enough money for rent and bills?

absolutely I worked in one at school and uni for a while and would have done it for free but the money helped with books and I got things for my hamsters at trade price saved a fortune not paying VAT on things alone

I highly recommend it
The best thing about working in a petshop for me is the regulars. I made some good friends that lived in my area because they kept coming back to get their doggy treats etc.

You will get as much money as any job so why not do the one you like?

well Iwant to go into psychology, but I can't do that before I get my degree really. Well I have seen a few jobs that I could do in that area but I want to do something a bit more relaxing while studying.

I thought the pets at home tha\t I went to would be nice to work in and I would be able to sex the robos right! I don't know, I will see, maybe give it a go before I start back next year.

I applied for a job at my local P@H at the beginning of April. I finally got my hours yesterday Anyway, what attracted me to the position in the first place was the wonderfully friendly staff they have there! Always happy to spend time discussing various aspects of pet care (and offering comfort for 30 year olds blubbing in the middle of their fish aisles due to the loss of her hamsters ). They have just started a massive refit of our local store, due to the addition of a brand new marine aquatics section. This is the area I wanted to work in. To be honest, after all the scare stories I've heard, (and this is going to sound daft ), but I felt a compulsion that those marines needed me They are not hamsters or normal fish, they have very specific needs i.e. water quality. I worried about customers buying the animals and them not acclimatising them properly, or not realising how large some species can grow, or that a tank cannot be treated for Ich by using copper if corals and inverts lived in there. So many variables! So much stress

I shall be their ambassador
