Bailey had his OP today...
Went to the vet with Bailey to have his tumours removed. He had three. Apparently he was a model patient i.e. didn't bite anyone and seems fine now. For the moment the lumps are gone but his furs a bit of a mess and he keeps trying to pull out his stitches. One of his tumours was a big as a 50 p piece and was hanging down and got in the way a lot. Hopefully there'll be no post operative complications. Just don't ask how much it all cost

good news that he came out of the anesthetic! that's the scariest part. My guinea pig didn't make it.
I would guess at about £300

Aww fingers crossed for no complications Pouchy. I think Bailey is one of your multimammates is he not?
Are they susceptible to tumours, as I think I read somewhere that certain rodents are? (it could have been on this forum I read it )
And Im sure he is worth every penny of the vets bills - just try not to think about the cost!

Aww bless him fingers crossed Bailey doesn't have any problems. My syrian Minka who died last year of a stroke had a lump under her chin which she had removed and she pulled one of the stitches out the vet said it didn't matter that much the other 2 stayed in an then dissolved. She was a little worse for wear but no complications. fingers crossed for bailey. Am glad they manged to remove the tumours.

Glad he has come through the op Pouchy. All the best for a speedy recovery and hopefully not too gigantic a bill. It will be worth it whatever to see him feeling better.

Yes. multimammates are susceptible to tumours. It's hereditary. £300? Not that much. Where do you go, Harrod's veterinary services. That is a horrendous cost.
He got through the night, seems to have spent it trying to gnaw his way out of the ward.
Don't want to put him back with his caemate just yet. One lot of stitches have been pulled out but not where the major tumour was as it was in a place his mouth can't reach.

Glad he's ok esp. after the anaesthetic. With an animals so small it's scary that they wont come out of it. Hope everything goes ok for you and Bailey.

Wishing Bailey a speedy recovery.
Operations don't come cheap, but you know he's worth it.
