11 days without power
Today would have been our 11th day without power, but luckily we got it back in the early morning. For the past 11 days we were suffering from the cold and lack of power, it only got worse the last few days as it snowed, making it colder. Thankfully, we are now all warm now and happy to have heat and power back.
The animals are so thankful, the hamsters the most as I feared they were close to trying out this hibernation thing to escape the cold. Charlotte and Scarlett were so happy when the heat turned back on that they were running around like wild little creatures this morning, eating a ton and running on their wheel like they might never see it again.
It was sad watching them these past 11 days, as they rarely came out and when they did they were miserable little things that rushed to do simple things like drink and stuff their pouches before running back to the warmth of their den. To tell the truth, I hadn't seen them in a few days so yesterday I was forced to open up their giant pile of bedding to check to see if my fears that they went into hibernation were true. Thankfully they hadn't and their nest was super warm from the Carefresh bedding, which made me glad that I decided to switch completely to Carefresh. Charlotte and Scarlett were of course upset with me that I woke them up, burst into their den, and then didn't even give them a treat for all the trouble.
The only good thing about this blackout was that I got lots of writing done during it. Now I need to get some more Carefresh, as I ran out, and change the hamsters' bedding as they had it for about 2 weeks now and it is starting to smell a little.

Re: 11 days without power
I'm so sorry for your troubles-I can't imagine all the damage on the east coast.
So glad your hams did well and are happy again.
Take care!

Re: 11 days without power
Thanks. My area didn't get hit that bad, just some trees and wires down, but the length of time it took to get power back was unbelievable. With the time it took them to get power back to us, you'd think we were in a place that was hit worse.
