rat rations order arrived and i think i'm alergic to megazorb!

hi everyone,

my rat rations order arrived this morning, i ordered i kg of megazorb as i have been dying to try it!!

it looks really good and a lot better than shavings, the only problem is i think I'm allergic to it!

i cleaned the newest member of the family peaches cage out as soon as i opened the megazorb and within the past 20 mins my hands are itching like crazy!!

i can't think of anything else it could be, it's the only 'new' thing which i have touched.

I'm a little dissapointed because i know a lot of people on here love it, and i really wanted to love it as well!

i think I'm going to have to stick to the finnacard which i do really like.

has anybody else had this problem??

Awww that's a shame, iv not tried megazorn before but I do have Hemp bedding if your looking for an alternative iv had no problems and I'm allergic to... life it would seem lol! But never had a problem with the hemp

Sully did. She's allergic to it too. It happens.
Some are allergic to hemp, some to megazorb, some to shavings... Everyone has different allergies really.

it's such a shame because I'm not really allergic to anything really, considering it's just wood pulp!

shavings make me sneeze but not so much itch, i think my next order i will try the hemp!

I hope the hemp works out better for you, thats what we use although we did have an allergy scare with one of the hams for a while. Fortunately we realised it was just his age, but he's stayed back on shavings rather than switch him again when he's elderly already.

There are also the card board based beddings like finacard and green mile that are worth a try.
I'm allergic to shavings and megazorb (I put up with it to finish the bale off) and carefresh is too expensive. When choosing between a hemp one and a cardboard one I just thought I know I'm not allergic to cardboard so it's easier getting that than finding out the hard way again :P

I've heard of a few people being allergic to Megazorb, sorry to hear you are It's the main reason I never switched over to it when I got Luna - didn't want to risk being allergic to it.

Eventually, I'm going to move over to Hemp but not sure when I'll actually be doing that lol!
